  1. Could it also be your amp/eq settings when in a band context? Are the frequencies of notes on those strings clashing with other instruments?
  2. This really is a lot of guitar for the money, open to trades for a small pedalboard and power supply or even a Squier CV Jazz or Precision if that floats anyone’s boat.
  3. Fabulous yet again @disssa!! Is that a heat sink bolted to the board near the LED/foot switch? Is this your own layout?
  4. I’ve just double checked and it was the tone filter switch that I flicked between for the sounds above (will update the labels). It’s in a plain box as I only recently built it so forgot which switch was the tone and which one was for the diodes. I might have another go at recording and toggling between the diodes as well but as the setting I had it on was using the original diodes it’s essentially the same circuit as an original Univox.
  5. Sorry for the delay in getting back to you @greentext I've been DIY'ing but hopefully these 4 samples will give you some idea of what this pedal is about. There is a caveat - I'm playing this on a P Bass with Labella flatwounds as that's all I've got to hand and using my phone mic, so it's not going to give you MCA's 70s Jazz with roundwounds tone and studio quality recording 😆 Gratitude (1khz tone filter on) Gratitude.mp3 Sabotage Sabotage.mp3 Futterman's Rule (normal tone setting) Futtermans Rule 1.mp3 Futterman's Rule (1khz tone filter on) Futtermans Rule 2.mp3 This pedal is an absolute filthy beast. I love it.
  6. I’ll see if I can knock something up tomorrow as a demo
  7. I’ve just built a Univox Superfuzz pedal to get that exact tone. It sounds amazing, like the world is about to explode.
  8. Power Alley, where all the best ten pin bowlers go...
  9. Exactly the same reasons why I hardly ever use it, except for mundane stuff or things I can't find anywhere else. I used to like eBay before the business model changed to putting everything in the buyers favour and they treated their sellers with contempt.
  10. Yeah that’s a fair point. I was just wanting to do it myself as a bit a test I suppose.
  11. Because I want to get more into understanding how it all works and I have half a dozen stripboards sat around. It’s based on the Hollis pedal but there are a few differences with the afterlife. I have seen that layout but I m trying not to look at that for the first reason in my reply above, I want to understand more about how things work and why.
  12. I’m not sure if this is the right place for this particular query but I’m looking to make a couple of madbean’s afterlife compressor - one for me and one for a friend. Thing is I want to do it on stripboard with a layout that I’m going to put together from the schematic on the madbean website. It’s the first time I’ve ever done this and was wondering if anyone would be willing to double check my work to see if… a. It makes sense and will work b. if there’s a better way of laying the components out I’ve built a fair few pedal kits with bought pcbs but have never laid anything out on stripboard before. I’m using DIY Layout Creator to draw the layout and was going to post here if that’s ok?
  13. Was thinking exactly the same, that's a stunning bass for £250!!!!!!
  14. Hi @GRUNT, have had a few enquiries already and someone has just paid for it so it’s now sold I’m afraid.
  15. Is that an arctic lorry trailer with some speakers in it 😄
  16. Thanks for the replies everyone much appreciated. @DGBass I think it is one of the blue line sica drivers, has an almost cloth like feel to the blue cone. I might remove to have a look at the back of it but no fuss at the moment. I would much rather have the combo on top of an extension speaker than the other way round so good to hear that, I was just wondering if the slot port needed to be near to the floor that’s all.
  17. Hi all, I've always had a head and separate cab setup so haven't run into this before, but I have an Ashdown ABM 300w combo with built in 15" speaker and wondered if I added an extension cab at a later date are there any hard fast rules? I understand that a speaker's size doesn't necessarily dictate how much bass/air it moves, but could I add something like a 2x10, a 1x12, 2x12 or 1x15 etc without any worries such as comb filtering as there's no horn/tweeter on the combo. Also, the combo has a slit port across the whole width along the bottom, I presume it would still work as intended if the combo was sat on top of an extension speaker, or would I need to put the extension on top of the combo? Cheers
