1. I just go with the bassline to "The Thrill is Gone" very recognisable and just pumps out lurvely throbbiness...
2.
Indeed, give the case a good hoovering, then sparay it with febreeze or similar, then let it air out for a week or two.
Would Febreeze (or similar) really be safe with a nitro finish? I'd be very loathe to spray anything into the case... just hoover it out and sponge it off with plenty of clean warm water...
3. probably a disgruntled fan of the act that cancelled... or else a closet bedroom DJ...
4. Pack of Schaller straplocks for my new bass... why don't they just sell just the bits that go on the Bass, I've got loads of the bits that go on the straps... and a Jam Trax CD with book... (Best of Bass Jam Trax)
5.
Two sets for £7, the D string from both sets just buzzed, all on its own like fret buzz, but with no fret touching, tried both on a couple of basses, gave up on them. Lesson learned there.
the outer coil has come loose from the inner core... not good...
6. I'm confused... Drop 'B' is that B, A, D, G if so, you'll want just the B string from a five string set... (I think you can buy single B strings, not sure though) Otherwise use a five string set and only use the B, A, D & G strings...
7.
Let me know what you think - do the poll and post your ideas! Cheers ped
you need a "maybe" option for the second half of the poll... it won't let me vote for just the forum option and leave the contribute part un clicked...
8.
I just love it when people make a bass their own. So many bassists leave their bass stock and sterile. This, I love.
it'll be some time before I mess with my new Squier... it's just so right as it is... the only thing I'm currently planning to do with it is to install a good set of sm77 Jazz flats when the current set of strings are really dead... I'm tempted to go a little wild with one of my old Encore P-bass clones though... thinking of installing an extra split P pickup up at the neck or else a humbucker up there and stick a jazz pickup down by the bridge...
9.
Steve Harris of Iron Maiden uses only flats, so rock is NO problem!
apparently though, he uses a fresh set every gig... and at some £27 a set... woah...
10. they've just pulled a load of Excess fee check scammers off the circuit... http://www.theregister.co.uk/2007/10/04/ch...scam_crackdown/ http://in.reuters.com/article/technologyNe...-29842720071003 so reporting it to the police works, eventually...
11. I have a dabble at the old ivories... I play "cross harp" (diatonic harmonica)... I can sing... I play acoustic guitar... I'm useless at drumming... great with two hands, but the moment I'm asked to introduce a foot into the equation... oh dear, completely lose the plot... I cannot for the life of me play a different rhythm with my feet to my hands...
12. hah... this'll confuse you... the sheet music I've got is notated in F There's a five bar guitar cue and then the first bar of Bass has Dm and Bb for the two chords The actual verse has the following chords: | C#m | G#m | C#m, C, D | E | F#m, B | E, A | F#m, B | E, A | the transcription has been done from the "Layla and other assorted love songs" version. The book it's in is "Great Rock For Bass Guitar" by Wise Publications
13. time for one of our Scottish members to ask about paying by cash on collection... what is it about them picking Aberdeen? Is it so remote from the rest of the UK that the vast majority of people wouldn't be able to collect it in person? oh look at that... P&P free!!! yet there's no insurance offered or a return policy... what a surprise...
14.
Other, Peavey Millenium BXP 4 stringer in blue... couple of Encore P-Bass clones, one with flats on, the other strung BEAD Squier Vintage Modified Jazz on order for Xmas...
Squier Vintage Modified Jazz now in my sticky paws... mmm nice....
15. I'm sourcing a USB stereo microphone and using my laptop and Audacity to record sessions in future. Can't justify spending money on a Zoom H4 recorder or a Minidisc player/recorder. USB microphones are cheap nowadays and I've already got a laptop with CD burner on it.
16. Arghhh!!! just had a great jam session yesterday... came up with several great patterns.. but now cannot for the life of me recall what I was doing... Memo to self, record all future jam sessions... for my benefit and the benefit of the guitarists... we smoked it during our 2 hour long jam in E minor... they played off me, traded lick battles with each other, I played off them, all the time moving on top of the steady rock beat from my Zoom B2.1U... sadly just memory now...
17. got mine on Friday... took it to a jam session yesterday... the others loved it and the tone I was getting. I won't be doing anything to it yet except put some flats on when I've played out the original strings... I'm also thinking of putting a ramp on between the neck and the neck pickup...
18. I've just found some new wallpapers for my PC... those closeups are lovely... and that baby looks brand new... reserve not met???? wow, some really cheapskate bidding there...
19.
Ladies & Gents I think I am just about to make myself very popular! http://www.drumslive.com/freeloops.htm
does Cubase LE (the bundled version) support the files?
20.
Jamerson just used one. I really dont think there is a proper technique, though its good to have a few in your arsenal. the three fingers is good for that iron maiden galloping sound. =D
Jamerson is Jamerson... I think you'll find the Steve Harris galloping sound is done with two fingers... http://www.bassplayer.com/article/command-...ce/Sep-06/23348
Explain your right-hand technique. I play with two fingers, except when I want to play a chord; then I splay out all of my right-hand fingers like a fan. I find myself doing more chordal playing these days. I like the heaviness of it.
21.
So how would you go about muting a note on the A string, say the music says x 7 x 8 on a tab sheet? Something that I'm kind of trying to figure out at the moomin.
use your left hand as well. You should have a spare finger tip to mute with...
22. don't use any product that contains silicon...
23.

nice... I like the look of the one on the left as well...
24. erm...!?!?!?!?! that's still in the shop with the tag on... at least it's not a shop I frequent... bunch of "merchant bankers"...
25. If it clips on the input when actually grabbing the incoming track, then you're stuffed and really should re record it Have you considered monitoring yourselves using headphones to avoid bleed? then you wouldn't be tempted to dig in quit so much.
