How do I tell my wife I just bought another bass?
Paul S replied to Rayman's topic in General Discussion
I'll say 'I might have bought a new bass' and Mrs S will say 'That's nice' or 'Good' and carry on doing whatever she was doing. If I say 'I'll sell one of the others' she usually says 'Don't - you know you regret selling them'. I am a lucky chap. I won't say 'she's a keeper' because a/ we've already been together for 37 years and b/ the way threads seem to be going recently someone will no doubt feel offended by such misogyny- 82 replies

Maybe Everyone In The USA Isn't Dim After All...

I think it is something do do those black SUVs the FBI use. -
If you have hit 60 with just a few minor niggles to your back and shoulders then good luck to you. Not being able to lift 20kg cabs has in many cases absolutely nothing to do with 'hitting the gym'. Certainy in my case. For most of my adult life I used to go to the gym 3 or 4 times a week. In my late 40s I used to bench press 100 kg for reps and 200kgs squats for reps which didn't qualify me as superman but meant I was fairly strong. I am now 64, have been nursing a prolapsed disc for some years and, on some mornings, struggle to put my socks on. Rather than lift weights I do core exercise and yoga stretches every day. I also walk. I can and do lift the 22kg pa bins without a problem. Getting them into just the right position in the car is sometimes a struggle. As is getting them up and down stairs. Because, for me, a slight twist in the wrong direction whilst carrying them means I am on the bench for a fortnight. But like so many on here you seem keen to be scornful over things that are different to your own experience. Please consider that there other situations and viewpoints.

I started wearing hearing aids when I was just 50 and have had tinnitus for longer. I'm now 64. There aren't many positives to this but one of them is my most recent hearing aids are volume controllable via an app on my phone so I still get a nice balanced ambient sound but at the volume I choose.

I doubt it. I've also had wondeful customer service from them a few times. Most recently I bought a Supertone 2 point bridge (not 3 point) from Bass Direct and the anchor bolts supplied were the wrong type (they come in both metric and imperial, my bass had the opposite of what comes in the box) - a bit of back and forth with Oscar saw the right type posted over from the USA free of charge.

No, good balance. They have ultralite tuners which I guess must help. -

Currently the LP Jnr DC, an Antoria EB-3 shorty, a Harley Benton PB Shorty and Retrovibe P30 shorty. I have had several others though - mainly Fender flavoured - but I did have an Epiphone EB-0 for a while. The LP Jnr DC is the pick of the Gibson-y ones and at £500 I'd say very much worth the extra £150 over an Epiphone. Possibly the biggest minus if you can't live with it is the 3 point bridge. I put a Hipshot Supertone in mine. Here's mine in action Sounds great through the big pa there. Incidentally a Gator Deluxe Les Paul guitar hard case fits one of these like a glove. -

Plenty Gibson-y enough for me, I love mine. Not the classic SG/EB0/3 mudbucker tone with the pickup further back but all the better for it IMO - more bite, more middy. Totally devalued now, of course, come the time I might want to move it on -
And a leed. I had no idea leeds were so expensive.

😂 Nope, sorry, I don't have a clue what you mean.

Indeed, he started on drums, not tuber.

I'm not sure anyone is being hostile here. My observation would be that the way you write is incomprehensible to a lot of us. There are many on here for whom english is not a first language, maybe even not a second, yet folks always try to make themselves understood. But this weird street patois you have adopted really is next to impossible to unravel. I am sure you have some interesting points to make but I actually have no idea because I can't make head nor tail of what you are writing. And clearly I am not the only one.

£150 from santa. How should I upgrade my bass?
Paul S replied to Friskydingo's topic in Bass Guitars
My view is a combination of these two, really. I used to tinker, learnt a huge amount, spent a huge amount. Now I generally don't bother unless I can see a tinker that is worthwhile. But I wouldn't be in that posiiton had I not tinkered in the first place. So I would say go for it and enjoy the ride. -
Anyone play a Fender American De Luxe Zone active bass?
Paul S replied to TerryVil's topic in Bass Guitars
I'm not entirely sure but weren't these essentially the same as the earlier MIJ Precision 'Lyte', which can be picked up for half that price? -
Thank you. I've read it all through a couple of times but was unable to draw any conclusions. Was this via Google translate?

I get the "Female drummer" and "Ideally 18-30" kind of ads but..

I composed a vegan rap earlier this year, after seeing a vegan wrap for sale in a cafe. It is only very short and needs lots of people to join in the italicised bits. Imagine the drums to 'rock me Amadeus' You can't eat meat and you can't eat dairy You can't eat nothin if it used to be hairy You can only eat something it is plant-based You can't eat nothin if it ever had a face 😀 -
There is nothing I need or want so I foresee a gear-free 2022... but I know only too well how GAS comes at you unexpectedly from out of the sun. Probably my weakest moment would be if a decent sub-4kg Rickenbacker or faker came along.

Quite a lean year for me, 2 basses in, 5 out, nothing else apart from the odd set of strings. In Retrovibe P30 Antoria Precision Out Guild B301 Maruszczyk Jake 5 'Sprackenbacker' 70s MIJ faker Gibson Thunderbird Riverhead Unicorn

Been years since I had a black and white TV.
