1. I have one of the Fender ones. I like it - looks brilliant - but it is very heavy. Seems to extert a lot of pressure on the amp input.
2. I played my first gig at 50! Have a great time.
3. Another Midget + Compact user - I'm in no hurry to change it as I love the sound - the whole is greater than the sum of the parts!
4. This was mine, I traded it with John for a 5er he had that I had GAS for. I am almost tempted to buy it back as it is an absolutely cracking bass. 7.5lbs of Fugi-jen's finest with the skinniest neck I have played. And I have a penchant for skinny necks, too. The marks shown are pretty well it as far as superficial damage is concerned, it shines with a deep piano black that belies its age. This has done the Basschat rounds, when I got it the electrics had been converted to passive with new pickups (but included the old bits in the sale). I put it back to stock and had the knackered preamp put back to fully working again. Be quite interested if all the previous owners could chip in as, to my knowledge, there were 2 Basschatter owners before me.
5. And it was mine until oldslapper and I traded. It is an absolutely cracking bass. Pencil thin neck, superb build quality, great sounds.
6. Mrs S is looking forward to that. I saw them last year locally at a small venue and they were brilliant. I believe they have a pool of musicians spread over several countries - almost a franchise!
7. Rock and Roll Hoochie Coo, what a great track. As an aside, the version of it I like best is by Johnny's brother Edgar - here playing with Rick Derringer (who wrote it) and an almost unrecognisable Dan Hartman on bass. http://youtu.be/XdHnGyU1yJQ
8. Westone Thunder? It is possible to get a Thunder 1A for £100 - £150 and, for my money, they knock spots off the cheaper end of the Squier market.
9. I adopt a 2 tier system - use a Halford's soft tool bag http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_261431_langId_-1_categoryId_255214 for rehearsabilia, which I then carry inside a larger holdall together with all the extra gigabilia.
10.
the fingers can`t read the badge.
My nomination for quote of the decade!
11. My vote would be for a Silver Series Squier Precision. No problem with the pups on those! Lightweight, 40mm neck, excellent value for the money.
12. I bought 2 x sets of strings from Rikki (or Sandra ) in the simplest of transactions. Good price, quickly despatched, good comms. Wouldn't hesitate to do business with him again! Cheers Paul
13. I wonder what the story is behind this poor thing? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Shergold-marathon-bass-guitar-/161327105855?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item258fd8473f
14. Count me in! (If not too far and depending upon date) I'd love to see how it is done properly! 15. Traded basses with John, who went out of his way to make the meet up convenient for me. Couldn't be happier with the swap, hope you are mate! A pleasure doing business
16. Also a lot depends upon how you play. A couple of times recently I have had to adjust a neck on a bass I have just acquired to give more relief. I play with a pick most of the time and give the strings a bit of a thump so basses with an almost flat neck and very low action get too buzzy.
17. And on hold pending payment
18. The early 90s MIJ Squier Silver Series Jazz has a 40mm wide neck and is a damned fine bass. But, then again, another vote for Mighty Mite necks - I have the opposite with a Jazz neck on a Precision bass.
19. Sold a pedal to Ed - quick, easy transaction with good comms throughout. Wouldn't hesitate to deal with him again!
20. I was pointed in the direction of teamup online calendars. Seems a bit easier than Google. http://www.teamup.com/help/tutorials.html But, as with Google, it is only as good as the weakest link.
21. Yup, my go-to P bass is a bitsa. Black MIJ lightweight body, Mighty Mite maple Jazz neck, Wizard Trad pup, Hipshot A style bridge, P-retro, La Bella flats. Does exactly what I want it to do. Doesn't stop me gassing for others though
22. Bump! Handy bit of kit for 6 or so pedals, power brick underneath. Large pocket in the case for, er, pedal related guff.
23. Len bought by Unichorus pedal in a fast and straightforward transaction. Good comms a thoroughly decent chap who I wouldn't hesitate doing business with again. A pleasure, sir.
