1. I bought this on here some while back, been meaning to do something with it but don't have the inclination. Neck from a Squier VM Precision. 40mm at the nut, so kind of skinny for a Precision. Has been defretted. Badly. Pic is fairly representative of what is going on along the whole neck. Truss rod work! It had a painted headstock when I got it, so I stripped it and managed to burn the wood. Also comes with a free string tree (can't get the bugger out) Make a good project, probably best if re-filled and sanded or re-fretted £15 posted PayPal gift or £10 collected from SS7. Or nearest offer.
2. I bought this on a whim for something that was never really going to happen. Bit too much of a stretch for my DIY skills, to be honest - took it out the box when it arrived, put it in my spares box where it has sat looking derelict ever since. Preamp, pots and associated gubbins for Westone Thunder 1A. No idea what the input jack is all about. Looks like some of the wires have come adrift from the pcb. No idea if it works, sold as a do-er upper. £12 posted, PayPal gift, £10 collected from SS7
3. Set of 4 Wilkinson elephant ear tuners. Big mounting plate, to fit 11/16th headstock hole. Including ferrules and mounting screws, although the latter have seen better days... £15 posted or £12 collected from SS7. PayPal gift
4. Just needs a tort pickguard and it would be perfect! Lovely. I've always wondered about these. I have space in my 'collection' for a body-less, head-less bass currently occupied by Hohner B2A. But every time one of these puts its head above the parapet I wonder... Or any of the 80s MIJ ones - Washburn Bantam or, particularly, the Aria Pro II Interceptor.
5. Lee bought a pickup from me in the smoothest of transactions. Instant payment, good comms. Nice fella to deal with. Cheers Paul
6. Hi John - I am fine, my good fellow - yourself? I can't remember where this one came from, other than I bought it on eBay about a year ago. Going to put his on hold for now, use it this week at rehearsals to see if I can re-kindle the love, and allow it to drift down the list for now.
7. Gosh, FE, you are making me rethink now! On hold while I make some decisions...
8. I think the problem with this one is that when it was first listed he said it was a '93. Next listing he changed that to an '83, said he bought it from new (hence the dodgy irrelevant swing tag). My memory is not all that great, but I can differentiate what I did in the 80s and 90s. Possibly just a typo but, in that case, why not just say it was a typo? There seems to me to be too many discrepancies to trust the listing, and the dodgy pictures don't help. But as far as JV Squiers in general are concerned they are absolutely superb. I have one and it is a corker.
9. Mine arrived today. First impression is that it is totally indestructible. What a great bit of kit! Even the carry bag I bought looks like it will last a century or two. Why did I wait so long before trying one!? I may well trade up all my other stands to Hercules if that is the build quality.
10. Didn't get past the fifth fret on my first night.
11. I don't know about a second coming but this is about the 3rd or 4th listing....
12. A 'better than Badass' bump These are £85 new!!
13. Status do double ball end flats in 2 gauges - http://www.status-graphite.com/status/frames/index_home.html
14. Thank you for the bumps, gentlemen Possibly the best value in the basses for sale at the moment?...
15. That would make you third dibs On hold for a week.
16. Bump for a bargainaceous active Aria Pro II Matsumoku monster.
17. Starting at £350. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hayman-40-40-vintage-bass-guitar-extremely-rare-green-burst-colour-/251611189014?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item3a95320f16 Not sure I have seen one in that colour before. Not sure I want to see one again, to be honest, but someone will like it!
18.
Just ordered one .. thanks guys .
Me too. Time to bin the QrapLok
19. Does this work? Edit - Yes! Edit again - that Squier Jag looks superb! What does it sound like? So - you showed us yours, I'll show you mine! My Fender Mustangmaster ®©™ [sharedmedia=core:attachments:168550] Long version of story - I bought this 1978 Fender Musicmaster on eBay quite cheaply - £250! - thought it was my only chance to own a real vintage Fender! After a close inspection I discovered that the line I could see in the body was a a bit of an issue - the body is actually split in the upper bout down to the join and has been badly glued together. Proves the old maxim that anything that seems too good to be true most likely is. Probably unsellable as it is without making a big loss, so I decided to get a Precision pickup put in to beef up the sound - the biggest drawback with the Musicmaster. So off it went to Howard the Bass Doc, who routed out the middle to take the pickup and made a new scratchplate to accommodate it. Made a cracking job of it, too. Sounds great. Not like the Musicmaster, but not like a Precision, either. There is a sweet spot just forward of the pickup that sounds divine!
20. There you go Mel. Nice, innit! A Bass Doc special. Howard routed for the P-Bass pup (now a Wizard Trad) and made a new scratchplate. I call it my 'Mustangmaster'. Nice thumpy thing it is too.
