Help with sorting poor refinish please?
RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE replied to karlfer's topic in Repairs and Technical
I was gonna say that you could turn it into one of them comic book basses. The basschattts who did them did a good job , for not much cash iirc;) Have a bump anyway -

Bass beginner needs advice on small bass combo
RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE replied to Rocker's topic in Amps and Cabs
I like the look of the bass cube myself . Some good you pube clips . Galleon Krueger make good portable combos. They were incredibly expensive in the '80s but are now more affordable . -

The mans a legend.( plus gecdy& alex of course ) It doesn't seem that long ago , that we thought we'd never see Rush ( after the roll the bones tour for example) . I don't think even rush realised , how missed they were over here. Saw them quite a few times now . Most of the bands I grew up with, are getting old vote are dying . I would think rush will still record, but obviously not as much .maybe a solo from Alex and geddy. Neil has a lot of things he wants to do , and thankfully he can pick and choose what he wants to do , whenever he wants . Must buy that r40!dvd. No doubt there will be loads of 'rare' stuff released. Over the coming years for us to buy .)...
Maybe we should send Geddy & Alex a link to the recent "Do you REALLY need a drummer?" thread.....
;)

Do you REALLY need a drummer..?
RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE replied to discreet's topic in General Discussion
My very first gig ,was without a drummer. It was my 30th birthday gig , we did rock covers and a few daft singles also. The line up was Vox, guitar , me and a chap who played samples and a drum machine. We 're all really good friends. We all worked in the same company at the time . The experienced people were the guitarist and vocalist . The drum machine packed up temporarily in the second set . Unexpectedly of course. I played a few comedy riffs ,which managed to get us out of trouble . So, yes I would play without a real drummer. -

RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE replied to jonnythenotes's topic in General Discussion
Mmm... Amp/ combo wise .. Even Stevens between Eden nemesis mc-250 combo & Aguilar ag500sc/ db112. Basses used ..Fender 1977 telecaster bass/ Washburn status ( passive ) Steinberger Xmas-3 and jack Daniels bass. Zoom b21u was used very sparingly for 2 songs. Fantastic . Playing rock covers and silly singles . -
I used to have an original (unused) membership card from the Hacienda nightclub and an old ticket from Donnington Monsters of Rock (1991), both sold on eBay. I also used to have one of Jason Newsted's plectrums... I caught it when he threw it into the pit at a Birmingham NEC gig many years ago. Can't find the damn thing now, so it's probably been unwittingly thrown away!
I've got a donongton tkt ( Bon jovi ). Left original at home , bought one on the day . Can't do that now
Just a heads up Ray, you mentioned you were looking into finding a sampler: Amazon are doing a Black Friday deal on the Korg Volca Sampler which by all accounts is a rather nice little unit even at full price. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Korg-Volca-Sample-Digital-Sample-Synthesizer/dp/B00NKD1PUI/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1448551596&sr=8-4&keywords=Korg+Volca
I'll look into this in the morning , cheers

Some great advice here , as always . The worst year of my life is almost over . I feel very mellow tbh. I may make a big decision next year . Put on loads of weight due to steroids, I keep waking up around 2.30 am ( steroids?) Apart from that , and a change of life needed, I'm fine Thanks for your kind words . I'll probably start playing the bass again around Xmas time , when I be got time to assess
