  1. I've just posted on another introduction, but in case you don't see that check out StudyBass.com for a really good guide to setting up a bass.
  2. Welcome aboar😁d! I usually recommend StudyBass.com as an excellent starting place. It's free, and it covers the essentials and basics very well - like how to hold a bass, how to play and practice and avoid injuries, and has a really good setup guide. Some people find it a bit dry, but it's always accurate. The other site to check out is scottsbasslessons.com. Scott is a bit marmite, especially the free videos, but the academy stuff is really good. Cost is around $90 per year, or three face-to-face lessons. Face to face, if you find a tutor you get on with, are by far the best in my experience. If nothing else, I found the very fact that I was paying for the time made me practice in between time to get the benefit
  3. Welcome aboard! Does root beer look better on a bass than it tastes in a glass? 😉
  4. Very Flash Gordon! How about a matching headstock?
  5. Glad to see the bird will be used. But @Happy Jack - surely it would have been quicker and easier to, well, you know,. . ...just remove the B-string?

    Hi All

Welcome aboard! Lots of affection for HB's and inexpensive basses on this site - and for Foderas and Rics too. Go on - what's the orange single-cut 5 string?
  7. There must be something odd going on with the body. Hopefully third time lucky with the Wudtone 🤞
  8. Very nice! Welcome aboard, and hope to see you in the Build Diaries.

    Hello

Welcome aboard! Lots of church bassists here, me included. I read your post as you having a Harley amp and cab. Bit of a change from motorcycles. 🤦‍♂️
  10. As I've said before - really impressive work. Attention to design details that the end user may never be consciously aware of, but which make the product a better in a hundred little ways, is a mark of of a great engineer or craftsman. Clearly you are both.
  11. I bet when you were a kid you had your nose pressed against the window, wishing you had the money to buy that spokeshave. Then one Christmas your dad bought it for you, but you traded it in part exchange for a chisel a few years later.
  12. Welcome aboard! If you're starting out then any regular/ light strings will be fine. I played Ernie Ball slinkys for quite a while as they were what the shop strung the bass with. After quite a while I changed as an experiment and found others I prefer, with a much higher tension that take more effort. There are differences in strings, and they matter once you get to the place of being fairly fluid in playing and can feel and exploit the differences, but don't worry about it. Nobody other than another bass player can tell anyway!
  13. I am playing on Sunday, hooray! I am staying away three days this week and I haven't picked up the bass since February. So I need to practice in the hotel. Is this what people mean by a travel bass?
  14. I need to replace the strings on my bass - I dislike the low B on the set of rotosounds I have at the moment. I was wondering where I could get some advice so now I know.
  15. Welcome aboard.

    Hi.

Sounds excellent to me - play the music you love to people who also love it and wouldn't hear it live anywhere else. 👍
  17. OK, so we're into what software developers refer to as "weird sh!t territory."

    Hi.

Welcome aboard! What sort of music?
  19. Does it work for other sites that use 2FA? I've had a mooch round the Mozilla support sites, and it may be that you need to disable advanced protection for BC, as its possible that the cookie confirming the authentication is not permitted. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/total-cookie-protection-and-website-breakage-faq#w_what-kind-of-breakages-does-total-cookie-protection-cause I can install FF and test, but probably not this weekend.
  20. Noooooooo!!!!! We must resolve this issue. There are disk manufacturers across the world whose 2025 forecasts are based on the exponential growth of the DOI thread!
  21. You can change the name in MS Authenticator, it just said "Account", so I changed it to "BC". Google probably does the same, look for a pencil icon somewhere where nobody sensible would put it...
  22. That is a fabulous finish! Go on - go for it!
  23. I thought about buying this bass when it was up for sale, I'm glad I didn't as you're creating something unique here. Excellent work, really good indeed!
  24. I've updated the first post to say the answer is on p2.
  25. I own my bass, IEMs and a few DI boxes which I bought but everyone uses so I don't care. Technically I co-own the PA with about 250 other people - that's what happens when you only play in church.
