  1. The Fender is OK, but I definitely prefer @Andyjr1515's bass.
  2. Welcome back. I'm off to the build diaries... ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ
  3. And if @Geek99 is run over by a Maserati test driver while hitchhiking through Italy, disguised as a nun to evade intepol, on the way to make his purchase...? Silly jokes aside - it is a thing of beauty.
  4. Worth going out for. ๐Ÿ‘
  5. Well that's told me! ๐Ÿ˜‚
  6. Just spotted these on the recycling thread.
  7. Welcome aboard!
  8. That is a very cool looking bass. Hopefully it's all electrically OK and you can do a sympathetic restoration. I'm really interested in how this turn out.
  9. Utterly daft. I liked it a lot. ๐Ÿ˜ And by way of searching about the group I came across the wonderful term "plunderphonics".
  10. Can you post photos? The cab and the intended new handles? Offhand I can't see why you shouldn't just be able to change the side handle on a cab, but I am probably missing something.
  11. I have an HB MusicMan 5 string copy. I got it free, and soley to put a Roland hex pickup on it as an experiment. But much to my surprise it's really good to play, and sounds great as it is. I'd recommend an HB to anyone.
  12. Because they're having to compensate for not being bassists.
  13. Good luck!
  14. Coooool, baby! ๐Ÿ˜Ž And remember- Jaco only needed 4ยบC
  15. Welcome aboard! L
  16. I shall definitely be over to your stand then.
  17. That sounds like something Spike Milligan would have said! ๐Ÿ˜
  18. Where?
  19. The rest goes on lessons, and a holiday.
  20. " Not good at moderation " ๐Ÿ˜ You're definitely among friends here!
  21. Welcome aboard! Like Learning new stuff? There are a million rabbit holes to go down in this site, even aside from the brain-melt that the theory threads throw up sometimes. Check out Build Diaries. Mostly woodwork, then occasionally up pops a thread on Arduino, 3D printing and all sorts of mad things to make a bass with!
  22. @Owen - I recall David saying that particular hymn was often deliberately scheduled along with the Rugby in Bangor. Is that correct, or was he winding me up/ mis-remembering ?
  23. I used to work in Brindley Place. Fair Deal Music was an easy lunchtime walk for a bunch of us to see what they had. I think I only ever bought strings there, but they were very happy for three blokes to just turn up and play basses for half an hour then go back to work. Hobgoblin was another target, but their instruments all had ridiculous numbers of strings. ๐Ÿ˜
  24. Of course, if it's London Bridge, and you bought it off a geezer in Limehouse, then you're still in. An epic fail in real life, but not by these rules. ๐Ÿ˜‰
