Possible BC relay? If someone can get it from Worcester to Solihull then I can get it to Milton Keynes or a bit closer to the M1/M25 junction.

Loudness is now very specifically defined using LUFS (Loudness Units Full Scale) and it's essential if you're mastering audio and want it to sound good on different platforms. The scale takes into account absolute signal level, the frequency response of human hearing, and a few other technical factors. There's a relatively simple introduction here: https://emastered.com/blog/what-are-lufs Somewhere I have a really good cheat sheet translating a lot of common terms musicians use into something that sound engineers can adjust, but I can't find it. Will keep looking. Edit: this attachment isn't the one I was looking for and doesn't define thump, but it might be useful to someone. FrequencyCheetsheet.pdf

Self build would be my vote too. But whatever Phil choses to do will always be very interesting and gratefully recieved.

Very cool indeed! I look forward to hearing it in action one day. -

I thought I might have to apologise for suggesting the matching headstock, but clearly @Andyjr1515 will do an amazing job as always, so I'll just stand around slack-jawed as usual. -
Very impressed!

I asked CoPilot/Dall-e to create a bass guitar that looked like an F1 car: I think that's pretty cool to be fair, and almost workable.

@scrumpymike - everything he owns unless he sells it between now and then @Rich - Shuker 5-string, OLP/Jaydee fretless 'Ray, Genz Benz Shuttle 9.2, Barefaced Super 12T cab. @Kateplaysbass - Ashdown CTM-100 and LB212, Pawn Shop Mustang, medium scale ACG Finn, and maybe also ACG Recurve and Bass Collection 5 string fretless, since I'm thinking about offloading both of those @Woodinblack - Bongo, just to wind people up @Frank Blank - Short scale Jabba_the_gut fretted and fretless basses, QSC K12.2, Grace Design Alix. @Richard R - Brawley 5 string, as usual, HB 5 String thing with Roland hex pickup and V-bass COSM synth. @BreadBin - something interesting

My job for this evening is sorting out a couple of church rotas. Which means I get to make sure I am free that Sunday. 🥳 Brawley 5 string, as usual, HB 5 String thing with Roland hex pickup and V-bass COSM synth: https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/479008-help-advice-rolandboss-cosm-midi-synth-experience/?do=findComment&comment=5014148

Too orangey for crows, it's just for me and my dawg

Very nice! 😎 -
A bass styled by Adrian Newey would be something to see. But it might only work propery if played really, really, fast.
-
Yep, only a tier 2 failure. You could avoid even that if you promise not to play your bass though it 😉

If a job's worth doing, then it's worth doing well. That's a very nice restoration, and the House of Tone sticker sets it off nicely too. 👍

The standard academy fee covers a lot of stuff, and the staff there (yep there are staff who answer emails !) will help you find the best courses for what you want to do. Plus the academy courses are better than the free YT stuff. The campus forums are good too, a sort of BC-lite like a college common room. I have had a subscription for about 3 years, and definitely got my money's worth out of it. If I was playing more I would keep it up. I would sign up, ask loads of questions about the best courses, try them out, and if you don't like it you can cancel within a fortnight. (Check that still applies of course)

That's lovely, plus anything by Taylor will sound great. It's very tempting, especially as a travel bass and I am away quite a bit. But I'm not sure it would help with what actually I need to practice - which is reliably moving down to the 2nd and 3rd frets on the 35" five stringers I already own. ☹️ So have a bump, as the best I can offer.

An excellent idea. What a lot of great bands! A "super extended" version with all the tracks linked to from here, rather than one per artist, would be quite something!

That wasn't a travel bass, it was my normal 35", with underwear, wash kit and socks packed round it plus shirts in the outside pouches, so I didn't have to take an extra bag with me. Worked rather well, plus a little combined tuner/metronome/ headphone amp in there as well. Last Sunday was good, though I am very stiff-fingered and rusty! It would have been worse without the practice in the week though, just to get the left hand stretching again, but the service was good, and a few folks said it was nice to have a bass in the band again. Probably the last time this year now, though.
