  1. We're an accommodating bunch. There are even a few lead guitarists here too. They're the shy ones at the back, by the way. 😉
  2. To which you replied "Of course, provided you get an electrician in to look at the wiring as I think you have an earthing problem, which could be dangerous"
  3. A much better, and cleverer album than I expected.
  4. Welcome aboard, sir! I now have a whole new interpretation of the lyrics to Mustang Sally. 😁 Lots of church bassists on here, there's a Playing in Church thread specially. You'll find the UK scene a little different to the US, but we all still moan about the worship lead changing the keys of songs...
  5. I'm waiting for your scratch built bass with plywood body, though in the meantime I'll enjoy the more normal builds and admire the floor. Headstock design ideas? Here's 15 pages of them
  6. My grandchildren, if and when they arrive, will be lucky to get anything more than cotton-reel tanks and a pram-wheel go-cart.
  7. The closest thing to this is a Bass Bash! You can't borrow it to take home of course, but where else can you play a Dingwall, Wal, Jabba custom, etc. back to back and talk about them?
  8. RBF? Rusty Bass Fingers? Reet Bendy Fretboard?
  9. I've read all of this thread with great interest, and I think my ambition is to be @Stub Mandrel * 🤣 I first picked up a bass in 2016, aged 49, because we were short of bass players at church. My goal then was to be good enough to play regularly in church without screwing up. Which I am and I do. My goals now are to 1) practice more and be good enough to play in a secular band with a mix of covers and originals. 2) find someone who writes good music and needs a lyricist partner to help take over the world. One of these is more plausible than the other. * just the music bits, not the divorce
  10. Hurrah! Another Andy build thread! An oasis of calm civillised craftsmanship, sharp tools and gentle wit. A respite from the unrelenting depression of the news and most of the rest of the internet. Following, of course. 😁
  11. What's the string spacing at the nut and bridge for the evo5? Look great!
  12. Next time @Andyjr1515 is at the Midlands Bash, we'll get him to do his most excellent setup talk again. But this time we should video it, properly, and pin it to the top of Repairs and Technical. Of course after that threat I may never see him again 😪
  13. Welcome aboard! Flatwound strings are easier on the fingers, so my son informs me.
  14. Is that it? Nobody will notice and the rest is superb.
  15. Welcome aboard! As my band leader said a couple of weeks ago when I queried something in the bridge of a song: "Play any note you want, but be on time". If you're already a drummer then you'll nail the groove and that's what we're here for. 🤘
  16. Welcome aboard, and welcome back to the low end. Nothing wrong with playing guitar. But, to paraphrase George Orwell "Six strings good, four strings better" (I mostly play 5, so I'm not sure where that sits. 😁)
  17. He's making light of it, and it is quite incongruous, but incredible skill to play!
  18. These are genuinely good things. When we had the bathroom refitted there was a long time delay between the bathroom being complete and the final flooring being fitted, due to something called "Covid" if I recall. I bought two packs of these to go on the hardboard floor. They are hard-wearing, easy to fit together, and warm underfoot. We rather missed them when the proper flooring went down.
  19. Very nice indeed! +1 for rounding the corner(s) of the control plate. A file will do nicely. The plywood flooring is gorgeous too. 🤩
  20. Welcome aboard! We have a few members in Poland, but there isn't as far as I know an easy way to search on location. Correction- there is a very easy way to search by location! Search for members, and use the Location filter.
  21. That's a proper floor, and you have plasterboard, skirting board, skylight, and it looks like electricity as well. My loft has bare joists, rockwool insulation, dust, and a wasps' nest!
  22. I only knew Judie Tzuke from "The Cat is out", the first CD my wife bought when we bought our first CD player. It's ... tolerable. I played "Road Noise" this morning and, as befits this thread, is infinitely better! Very '80s, but fun.
