That's lovely, plus anything by Taylor will sound great. It's very tempting, especially as a travel bass and I am away quite a bit. But I'm not sure it would help with what actually I need to practice - which is reliably moving down to the 2nd and 3rd frets on the 35" five stringers I already own. ☹️ So have a bump, as the best I can offer.

An excellent idea. What a lot of great bands! A "super extended" version with all the tracks linked to from here, rather than one per artist, would be quite something!

That wasn't a travel bass, it was my normal 35", with underwear, wash kit and socks packed round it plus shirts in the outside pouches, so I didn't have to take an extra bag with me. Worked rather well, plus a little combined tuner/metronome/ headphone amp in there as well. Last Sunday was good, though I am very stiff-fingered and rusty! It would have been worse without the practice in the week though, just to get the left hand stretching again, but the service was good, and a few folks said it was nice to have a bass in the band again. Probably the last time this year now, though.

Enjoy your holiday, and step away from any screens. It does wonders for your brain See you when you get back!

I think that is going to be quite something, the fretboard is very pretty. I would trust the luthier about the gap, maybe check with him if he expects the finish to go into the sides of the pocket as it's not clear on the photo of the blue bass.

These may just be what a certain organisation is looking for - have messaged them to ask. -
Generative AI is fabulous. Considering the algorithm has absolutely no understanding at all of what any of the terms mean, and just moves dots around until it makes something that matches images it has previously been trained that the words represent. Considering this is the free version, the full fat versions used for pharmaceutical molecule generation and the like must be awesome.

You might find some suitable holographic stickers. -
Welcome aboard! I've just replied on another introduction with a couple of sites I usually recommend to help get people starting. Rather than retype I'll just post a link. It's what Tim Berners-Lee would do 🙂

I've just posted on another introduction, but in case you don't see that check out StudyBass.com for a really good guide to setting up a bass.

Welcome aboar😁d! I usually recommend StudyBass.com as an excellent starting place. It's free, and it covers the essentials and basics very well - like how to hold a bass, how to play and practice and avoid injuries, and has a really good setup guide. Some people find it a bit dry, but it's always accurate. The other site to check out is scottsbasslessons.com. Scott is a bit marmite, especially the free videos, but the academy stuff is really good. Cost is around $90 per year, or three face-to-face lessons. Face to face, if you find a tutor you get on with, are by far the best in my experience. If nothing else, I found the very fact that I was paying for the time made me practice in between time to get the benefit

Welcome aboard! Does root beer look better on a bass than it tastes in a glass? 😉

Glad to see the bird will be used. But @Happy Jack - surely it would have been quicker and easier to, well, you know,. . ...just remove the B-string? -
Welcome aboard! Lots of affection for HB's and inexpensive basses on this site - and for Foderas and Rics too. Go on - what's the orange single-cut 5 string?

There must be something odd going on with the body. Hopefully third time lucky with the Wudtone 🤞

Very nice! Welcome aboard, and hope to see you in the Build Diaries.

Welcome aboard! Lots of church bassists here, me included. I read your post as you having a Harley amp and cab. Bit of a change from motorcycles. 🤦♂️

As I've said before - really impressive work. Attention to design details that the end user may never be consciously aware of, but which make the product a better in a hundred little ways, is a mark of of a great engineer or craftsman. Clearly you are both.

I bet when you were a kid you had your nose pressed against the window, wishing you had the money to buy that spokeshave. Then one Christmas your dad bought it for you, but you traded it in part exchange for a chisel a few years later.
