  1. Welcome aboard. Lots to chat about here. What are you playing at the moment?
  2. I was chatting with an old friend in the week. We both play 5 strings in worship bands and for the same reason - it's easier playing 5 than than playing 4. Transposing songs is easy, you don't have to remember chord shapes with open strings, songs in Eb aren't a problem, and occasionally you get to properly shake the room. But if I had the chance to own a particular 4 string I played a while back, I'd sell all my gear in a heartbeat to fund it. It's what moves you and makes you want to play well.
  3. I also missed this post. I never met Old Horse Murphy in person but enjoyed his posts and threads immensely. RIP, Sir.
  4. What a great story to start the day with!
  5. A few years back on another thread about deps and joining bands, someone kindly offered to post a link to the list they sent their deps, which was the list of songs, keys, chord charts and links to videos. I was trying to find it earlier this year to get some inspiration for practicing things I would never normally play, but couldn't find the thread, or the post. Was it anyone on this thread, and if so would she/he be able to post it again?
  6. What an excellent idea! And as others said above - well done.
  7. Said innocent basschatter would be stuffed regardless of the quality of brief they could afford- the rules are at the top of the thread and have stayed fundamentally the same for years. Plus if she or he is in any sense a gigging musician then chances are they can barely afford a pair of briefs in these straightened circumstances, let alone one with a wig.
  8. That looks the business 👍
  9. You'll have to print your own 😁
  10. Did you get the Beavis and Butthead stickers?
  11. Pop it in the Marketplace section, but say you only want trades?
  12. That could be read that your wife came along with you to carry the bass as it felt peculiar to you. Which would raise a lot of questions...
  13. I'm not a fan of big block MOP inlays, but having those in the same wood as the body looks very smart indeed.
  14. Or maybe a big blanket? Out of interest, who is the insurer?
  15. Welcome aboard! Step away from the marketplace 😅
  16. Welcome aboard! There is a lot of love for Thumbs here, and as said above, you'll get an idea of value from the marketplace. There are also a lot of old guys who no longer want to play boat anchors and prefer lighter basses. Ask for suggestions in the general thread, and you'll get lots of replies.
  17. Welcome aboard! The other site is very US-centric, which is fair enough as it's a big place. But we're friendlier. 😉
  18. Am I right in thinking "Sweet Home Alabama" was written in response to Neil Young's "Southern Man"?
  19. It was 1974, so of course it looks ridiculous. But it was part of the show and the entertainment, and as long as the audience had a good time that's the main thing. I wouldn't wear it for the worship band on a Sunday mind you! 🤣
  20. Leave the cardboard in the van, then hide it inside the flightcase tomorrow.
  21. This is like Terry and June*, but classier and with PA gear!
