  1. Thanks both. @neepheid - I agree when they wear out they have to be replaced rather than just crimped, but the bass is 20+ years so I can live with that wear rate. If I can find a chrome Switchcraft that's probably the one to go for.
  2. Hi all, The barrel jack socket on my active bass has become worn over time so the connection is intermittent. I'd prefer fully enclosed as that's the same as the original, though reading the forums here there seems to be mixed views on these. Recommendations for best brands? I would default to Neutrik, but they only seem to make open versions.
  3. We forgave the plectrums @Stub Mandrel, but a bass is a bass, so you're out. At least I assume it's a bass you bought. But when I googled "Kay Gremlin", this is the first image I got back:
  4. Damn! I wish I had thought of that! 🤣
  5. What do we reckon folks? A new bass, a pedal, an amp, a complete new sound system? #HowHasWavemakerSinned?
  6. I was just thinking "I wonder if you could make an inflatable double bass?", and then realised what a completely stupid idea this is on just about every level. Which of course means it exists:
  7. Not rehearsal as such, but my first bass lesson in years. Really back to basics stuff ("Down on the corner' anyone ?) with the intent to remove some poor habits that are going to cause problems. Just being super-accurate with everything. Also hammer-on and pull-off which are new to me.
  8. I don't think there is such a thing as an economical double bass, is there?
  9. Great band name 😎
  10. We allowed straps, leads, and consumables, so a stand seems OK to me.
  11. I've just been reminded I'm seeing the local "community choir" on the 14th June and apparently they are good. Not exactly Bruce Springsteen, but at least it's live music.
  12. I saw him 2 years ago at Villa Park. 3hr set, absolutely fabulous. In my top three gigs in 40+ years. Took a couple of songs to get the sound right and (oddly) Bruce's voice to settle, but rocking after that. All having fun rather than going for super-high energy and aggression, but the band were tighter than a torqued-up tight thing. And the crowd were up for a party which fed back to the band. I bought the recording afterwards too, which just makes me smile when I play it back You'll have a blast- wish I was going
  13. Yellow. With matching hush-puppies.
  14. Yes. They said "Take your market stall and dodgy goods elsewhere, we've got enough problems with the Romans without your sort too"

  16. 6th Jan for you, only beaten by @SumOne 😁
  17. Not yet half way through the year, and definitely more out than in. Please check for any errors/ ommissions. Or not, as you please. 😉
  18. Just mowed the lawn and now onto the house jobs. 😠
  19. This is splendid! Looking forward to seeing all the pictures. I might have to post pics of me weeding the garden, repairing the heat-cracked plaster in the conservatory, unblocking the drain at my daughter's house, and weeping into my beer that I missed all the fun. 😭
  20. Sadly a T2 fail, but +100 for honesty. What is a Cioks power supply?
  21. No. It's because I am just so damn' cool all of the time. 😎
  22. Synchronised T1 failure this afternoon. @Suburban Man bought my EBS Session 60 amp, and I took his Smoothhound wireless system in PX. I did think of claiming that I was just in the same car park in Brackley at the same time, and the prior text messages between us were nothing to do with a meeting to jointly commit this crime, and it's all just circumstancial with no real evidence.
