  1. Last time I played King of Kings I listened back to the recording and realised that the keyboard player and I had both been putting little arpeggio fills in at the same times, but a couple of octaves apart and always slightly different to each other. It sounded terribly sophisticated, and I bet we couldn't do it again if we tried!
  2. I drive an old Jaguar. The same thing applies 😅
  3. Every time I visit the EUB/DB threads I am thankful to Leo Fender, purely for the money he has saved me compared to playing a DB!!
  4. It depends a bit on the mixer. I use Mixing Station on my phone against a Qu32 desk, but the same app supports a huge variety of digital desks. You can have it open to control the while desk, or open in personal monitor mode to just control one output. Others use the Allen and Heath app, but I like Mixing Station.
  5. BassChat facemasks next year?
  6. I've just been to @skelf's web site. Those Graft look fabulous - even an "entry level" ACG will be quite something. It's probably a good job I wasn't able to attend! Graft G043 - J Type 5 string
  7. That's good to know. if there is ever a catastrophic collapse in the IT industry. ( I'm at best a scrappy bass player but consider myself a pretty decent FOH and sound engineer 😁) I've never been in a gigging band, but these stories are incredible, and occasionally terrifying.
  8. The Everly Pregnant Brothers. No oven, No Pie.
  9. Aha! I knew this guide was somewhere, but I had to go via the pinned blade sharpening post to find it. I've replied to it to give it a bump up, as others may not even know it's here. (I had to plane a sticking door last month and with a badly setup and blunt plane I probably would have done better just chewing the door)
  10. Shame I wasn't there - if only to bring the average down! Sounds like it was a great show for all, roll on 2025.
  11. I woke up this morning and my chest feels like I've been kicked by a mule. Just a chesty virus thing, but I'm not going anywhere today. đŸĢ¤
  12. A basic question I should have asked at the start: what is the board you are milling? I assume it is a ready-made item with a thin copper plate bonded to an insulating board?
  13. This is fabulous! 👍
  14. I meant the A3 printer @zbd1960 bought at the photography show. 😁 (If you hang around on this site for too long you'll notice that the question "Is it any good for metal" is mostly asked about things that are obviously useless for playing metal bass lines on. It's a sad in-joke, and yes we really should grow up)
  15. Is it any good for metal?
  16. I sold Terl Bryant a bookcase for ÂŖ1 on ebay many years ago! It was no reserve value, collection only from Solihull. He picked it up in a big Saab estate and said he had come up from the South Coast, but that was OK as he was playing a gig in (I think) Wolverhampton. Obviously I asked what instrument and who with, and we chatted about music in general and Graham Kendrick in particular. A few days later a CD of The Acoustic Gospels came in the post, with an accompanying letter. Lovely chap. This is still a CD I play regularly, especially around Easter. I wonder if he still has the bookcase?
  17. That is a good deal on the Ibanez. I hope someone else falls in love with it and goes home happy. @Kyndainverse - NBD post with pics please!
  18. I shall see if I can get over tomorrow afternoon. The weather was too bad to paint fences, so I cleared a lot of indoor jobs. Hopefully that means I am allowed out to play 😅
  19. Of course, others may think differently. We'll just have to take 'em on!
  20. No way will replacing ear plugs kick you out of the Abstinence challenge. Even if they were a new purchase and you weren't replacing them I would make an exception for safety equipment.
  21. Last year the music shop stands had quite a lot of basses as well as guitars - way more than I expected. Fair Deal Music from Brum, Absolute Music from Brighton, and of course PMT.
  22. https://m.xkcd.com/2038/ It's from this cartoon. I had a t-shirt made up with it. I used to be a physicist, and stil pay the IOP subs, but I went to the dark side (IT) in 1999.
  23. Anyone going to the Guitar show this weekend? See the events thread for more info.
  24. I still hope to go Saturday afternoon, but it's looking increasingly unlikely. ☚ī¸
