The Bass Show UK - Cranmore Park, Birmingham - March 1st and 2nd

If you do park in Parkgate then be aware that it's free for three hours, and you have to pay to park longer. I have no idea how you do that. The venue car park isn't really big enough, but there is enough on-street in the surrounding industrial estate. Looking forward to it. -

Which Technique(s) Are You Practicing At The Moment?
Richard R replied to Baloney Balderdash's topic in Theory and Technique
Update: Still have this problem. Probably because I barely played let alone practiced last year.- 19 replies

Let's get the inevitable of the way and never revisit it again: Jaco would have only needed four holes.

An email from Steve Lawson, as I follow him on Bandcamp, saying that he will be at the show on Sunday. "And then at the start of March, I'm playing at The Guitar Show in Birmingham. I'll be on on the Sunday of the show, March 2nd, and will be around all day. I'll post an update with my set time ASAP." -
I didn't know that, I always assumed it was the same thing with a different name.

This statement may be true, but I can't imagine any circumstances when I would wear this garment. Unless it says on the back 'He wishes I wouldn't"

Best sentence I will read today. I knew about equal temperament, but hadn't appreciated that some notes would be consistently out. On reflection it's blindingly obvious! When I get a bit of time, let me explain the horrors that underly the history of bagpipe tuning, and the stupid fingering. It's worth it of course, if only to waken the dead in the cemetery next-door-but-one.
-
You are going to have to explain that now!

I must admit, there are times I wish I played piccolo rather than bass.
-
I like bagpipes. to the rest of you!

Fairport Convention this evening.

There are those who would argue a soprano recorder isn't a musical instrument so you're still in. I'm assuming you can play better than I could when I was six, so it's a T2 fail as you say. Though for a good cause.

How about a non-endorsed Tech who might have a better idea?

You told me it was Daphne.

Absolutely true! I'm trying to organise anything occasional jam session with friends so I have things to practice rather than spending time on here on money of gear. 😉

Welcome aboard! Lots from the Midlands here, I'm in Solihull. Eventually we'll get another Midlands Bass Bash organised, but "really life" keeps getting in the way. Are you going along to the UK Bass Show ? There will be a few BassChatters there on stands and I think Steve Lawson is doing a live session.

Welcome aboard, again 😁

There is one here: https://polar.uk.com/b-stock-gallien-krueger-mb-500-lightweight-bass-head-302-0511-bstock But is it just crackling due to the jack and/or pots needing a clean?

Now I understand your username @NoRhino! Playing anywhere near SE Birmingham?

I had a significant tax refund this month as HMRC had given me the wrong tax code for 10 months. 😀 My much better half says I am emphatically not allowed to spend it on the Ovation Magnum 1 I was drooling over earlier. 😭
