  1. Not seen one of those since I was in school!
  2. http://thepipeandslippers.com/ They haven't got any events on yet either 😞
  3. Only if you play in 4:2 time.
  4. The chap who sat next to me, when we were allowed to be in work, turns out to be a rather good graphic designer on the side. He took a scribble I did in a meeting and I have a very nice moniker for when I finally build something. Not as clever as the infinity bass clef though.
  5. Paging @ped..
  6. The benches in a lab I once worked in were made of afromosia. It's a tropical hardwood, as far as I can tell was indestructible. Chemical burns, soldering iron burns, occasional frustrated fists, nothing touched it. When the labs were refurbished we bagged the benches. The stuff was also impossible to saw and denser than a white dwarf. Waterproof to me automatically suggests yacht varnish or an exterior grade varnish. They're probably heat proof for typical plates, maybe not boiling jam.
  7. He's already there!
  8. Welcome aboard! I've got a proper job. They're overrated, but do enable me to feed the family. If I had to rely on my interests to feed them...🙄. Good luck on the auditions! 👍
  9. Definitely an unusual look. I had a hunt round the internet to see if I could find some reviews or sound clips. I came across this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p7S-6GHSOuI The review is very favourable, though it is in French 🙂 More importantly the bass sounds gorgeous. There's variation with the tone control, and even just acoustically it's very, very, very, nice. Now - how on earth do I justify it? Have a free bump up.
  10. VERY green thing!!! Nice 👌
  11. Second post on the forum and it's straight into the build diaries. You'll fit right in.😁 Lovely grain fill, what did you use?
  12. Welcome aboard! If the SW Bass bash happens you should get down there.
  13. Welcome aboard! There seems to be quite a North Wales mafia growing on Basschat, or should that be a maffia? If you make furniture, do you already know @Christine? The renowned BC expert on sharp tools, and lots of other woodwork and cabinetry things.
  14. No idea, I haven't played many basses other than the one I have and a couple of friends'. So, being entirely selfish, spend the majority of the dosh on getting this b@@#$%y virus under control - but solely so that we can restart the bass bashes and I can go and try lots of things! 😁
  15. I saw the notification and was all excited to see progress on the bass. 🤗 Now it seems you have skipped the build entirely and gone straight to the Hendrix setting fire to it stage.
  16. Love that phrase!!
  17. Will do now I know who it is - thanks 👍. It will be at least next year before I do anything.
  18. I was in a long meeting last week and when not required directly I was designing a bass with a black body and wood pickgaurd. That swooping shape is much nicer than I came up with! Is it proprietary and would the luthier mind if I copied it?
  19. As per the rules - you're out if the purchase sits in the signal chain or affects the sound. So unless you are really sloppy and have paint in the sockets, or it's such a thick coat that it affects the sustain, I vote you are OK. Though there was something about presents in the small print too. Did you choose the kit?
  20. Ambient LF background drone, aka mains hum. At least until I muted the open lead.
  21. Spot on! Sometimes, if not most times, it's about the show as well as the sound and people remember what they see as well as hear: I wish I could afford to buy this for use at Christmas Eve services :
  22. If you didn't want us demanding audio files you should have posted on PaintChat!
  23. Being honest my New Music tends to be old music I haven't heard before, or new music in similar styles. The "What are you listening to now " thread here is a good source of stuff new to me, though seldom new, and Spotify is good too. Sometimes brand new bands appear on my radar which is cool. Since March though I haven't been into Birmingham city centre, so I haven't spent any time or money at my previous regular lunchtime haunts of HMV and The Vault. 😥
  24. I fell asleep listening to Spotify, and when I woke up this album was playing. A great tribute to Gary Moore.
  25. Actually, now it is right in front of me, I can see it is an 8i6, not the (non existent) 8i2, or the (lovely but overkill for me) 8i20.
