I’d go for late 70’s onward too - Never Say Die (love the whole album), Heaven And Hell and Mob Rules. Of course - there’s lots on forums about the bass on H&H…..with the band saying that Geezer replaced Craig Gruber’s original lines faithfully. CG had said that the band looked after him very well for his efforts….. I read a long piece once talking about how H&H doesn’t sound like Geezer….people had picked it apart. Either way, it’s a fabulous piece of work, bass and otherwise. My top 2 Sabs albums - that, and Mob. 🤟

Thanks all, sounds like it should be ok. I’m probably being over paranoid…..but I’m there for a few nights…..and obviously want to go out during the day. Last time (I wasn’t away as long) I did similar, I stuck them under the bed. I like @casapetes idea of the wardrobe. 👍

I’ve got a gig, an away trip coming up. Got to take a couple of basses. However, I’m staying a couple more nights after the show. I’m in a Premier Inn. Obviously I’m going to out most of the time…..I was thinking about always taking my gear in the car with me, rather than leaving it in the room? Has anyone done similar? I’d rather not cart them about, but…..? 😔

Personally, it’s not something I care about either. If I sell a bass, and am happy with what I get, I have no further interest in that instrument. Whether bought by a collector, a flipper 🦭, or as a use to keep warm in the winter…..it’s down to the new owner with what they do with it. 😇

I’ve used lots over the years, but I’m currently on a flats tip. Ernie Ball Cobalt, to be exact. They’re quite bright, with thump. However, as they’re on all my basses, I have considered putting rounds on something……and I have got a new set in the case…..😉

Legend is too weak a word to use IMHO. A musical giant……that late 70s/early 80s soul sound……he just had it. Together with all his other achievements…..hard to comprehend how much he did. ☹️

My 2024 Pure 2x10, made in Italy, is unsurprisingly fab. My slightly older Ninja 2x12, from Indonesia, is identical in its quality. But made in Italy just looks better on the label! 😆

I agree. I was drumming for band I helped form, some years back, and I was dumped by email. It was a trio…..I immediately tried to ring them both, neither would even answer their phones. Dusted myself down, and within days, I met and got involved in another project. 👍 That’s the good bit…..the bad was it was the thing that ultimately made me never want to drum again, and I haven’t. Anyway, it’s always best to maintain dignity, move on, and put it behind you. I’d like to say they’ll get their Karma, but TBH, I’ve seen enough people in life carry on without a care to make me doubt that exists! 🫣

I went for the Pure when I got my 2x10. Amazing cab, the weight is unbelievable, and it sounds sooooo good. 👍

I sold some vinyl on there some years ago. One buyer, clearly an A-grade tool, wrote to me stating that he loved the item, but in retrospect, he’d decided the postage cost was too high (it was rock bottom). He threatened negative FB unless I gave him some back. I offered a pound (he’d be charged less than two for a number of 7” singles). He was happy, and went on the leave positive FB. 🤓

I maintain for a quality USA instrument, that retails often for over 3k, you can find one a good selection for under £1500. A used US Fender is always way more than half price, for example. 😀

My first bass was one of those. Weighed roughly the same as Geoff Capes! 😄

Lovely basses, Will at BB regularly has an amazing stock, priced well, too. Think they represent quite a bargain used, at the mo. At one time, I had 2 - a 2 and a 3 EQ. Sadly, both now moved on. Reason? What I play, the band never liked them, eventually. I found myself selling 1, never using the other, so in time, let it go as well. I had no complaints, problems, or anything else. I love them. Only slight gripe, some (one of mine did) are affected by a weak D and G string. No amount of set up would fix it - I had the pickup replaced by a Nordstrand - problem fixed immediately, and it sounded amazing. It now lives another life with @Yoda 😀 Cracking bass.

I thought the first one when I mis-read it, was named after the late actress, Beryl Reid! 😫

I had a 2x12 briefly…..I found it to be good, fine, didn’t do anything I could get elsewhere. Stuck with Markbass before and ever since. 👍

I went to the GP yesterday, and they sent me to a new waiting area way out on its own. I was in there, on my own, just the radio on in the corner. After suffering Elton John, then that Bill Medley/Jennifer thingy song for about 2 minutes, I walked over, stretched up to the high shelf where the radio was……wiggled a few things……and silence! 👍 Instantly felt more relaxed. 😇

That’s interesting……last nights gig wasn’t that hot, and they stayed on. I’m applying them to a couple of nice US basses……would clear nail varnish affect anything? What if you have to ever remove it? ☹️
