The classic car guys that I know all swear by this product for (vinyl) seats: https://www.kolorbond.co.uk/vinylkote-paint-leather-vinyl/ I have never used it though, so cannot give first hand experience.

Wal-style knobs - anyone produce them?
BlueMoon replied to Bass Culture's topic in Accessories and Misc
With a bit of work, these Framus Vintage knobs will get you almost there. Here they are on my Wal bitsa. -
I guess if you play "old school" with your thumb, then a tug bar gives you a place to put your fingers. Otherwise, it has nice "pose appeal"!

Good score....well done! -
I was about to re-start rehearsals a couple of months back...............and then fractured my arm. Operation, screws, pins, the "whole nine yards". Then endless physio sessions. Damn! Last night was my first bass playing at a rehearsal........previously I was at last able to do backing vocals while a dep bass player stood in. "Rusty" ain't the word..........but I felt elated despite the self criticism on technique and overall sluggish performance. We'll get there!

Nice job @cd_david!!

I've had a Vanderkley 212 and 2x112. No real difference aside from portability and flexibility with the 2x112's. I used to take a single 12 to small café gigs and the two separate 112's to larger venues. To be fair, the Vanderkey neo cabinets are all quite light.

It can go the other way, of course. I had a chance during a business trip to the US to try out a range of different basses in a number of music shops (both large and small). I happened on a s/h Ricky 4003. The set up was OK - not ideal, but fine without any need to "fix" anything before I got it home. After a thorough in-store noodle, I took the bass to the very helpful sales assistant to finalise a deal. It was already cheap by European standards. The sales assistant goes through this whole spiel about how great these instruments are, and that he's a bass player too. He plays it just to show me, just in case - being European - that I hadn't registered his words. The conversation went something like : Assistant: "Oh, that action is way too high. I'll fix that for you while you wait". Me: "It's really OK for me actually". Assistant: "Are you kidding me? It'll only take a second". Fast forward to the big "snap" sound, when the truss rod snapped as he went at it like a gorilla! Assistant: "I guess you'll not be taking this one after all". Me: "You got that right! Maybe I dodged a bullet that day.
