  1. Was an opportunity for me to have a play with Abobe Premiere - I went a bit over the top with the second one
  2. Professor Elemental
  3. The wording of the goverment restrictions is pretty loose - there's plenty of loop holes that can easily be exploited. The intent of the lock down is to slow the infection rate of a potentially fatal virus whilst balancing that with the need to keep the economy going. It's a choice we all have to make regarding our personal principles and if we support that intent and abide by the spirit of the current restrictions or look for ways to work around them. I'm fortunate in that music does not represent any income to me and I can work from home full time. Music is purely a leisure activity and so another month of staying home and collaborating remotely is no big deal. I can see why those who heavily rely on the income of gigging would have a very different view and it appears many studios are staying open to support those in that position.
  4. My local studio posted this on Social Media
  5. Anne Widdecomb is pretty effective
  6. This is true!! My brother lives in Cornwall, and he plays bass in a country band!
  7. She's a real talent isn't she. I love that video you shared and have watched it many times, along with this one It's funny though as I did try giving a couple of her albums a go on Apple Music but couldn't get into them - must try some others.
  8. That red is gorgeous !!
  9. Great looking rig - can't wait to hear it
  10. Incubus did a song Sick, Sad Little World which is speculated to very much be about former bassist Alex Katunich (Dirk Lance).
  11. I've fallen a little bit in love with this bass.
  12. Almost tempted to buy this cab back 🤔
  13. I keep meaning to give the Players Path ago - I'm an SBL lifer so dip in and out when I feel like it. Though from the previous posts the price seems to have shot up massively - it was around the same as renewing for a second year's membership when I upgraded so it made sense to take it out, not sure I would for $500. Anyway, format of the PP seems very similar to the rockschool or trinity grade systems - 3 study pieces (chosen from 6) that need to be performed to pass a level and move on. At each level it calls out specific academy courses for you to work through and develop the required skills and knowledge to support the pieces. Gives a nice bit of structure to the SBL that has been previously lacking. A few references have been made to other online educators, I have some Talkingbass and Joe Hubbard material which is also excellent but today I discovered Daric Bennet (https://daricbennett.com/). Like Scott, he seems to come across well on his videos but with a significant reduction in waffle :).
  14. I read an interview with old Vic once where he stated that actually he loves to just sit back and groove but people only want to hire him for the flashy stuff. It's also what pays (apparently being a jazz musician doesn't pay that great, go figure).. But I agree with you @EBS_freakif you listen to the broad range of things he's done through his life he's one of the most versatile players out there who can play the role of traditional bassist but can also really push the boundaries of the instruminstrument. He even plays metal for lords sake !!!
  15. Not sure if it proves or disproves your point???
  16. Sounds like my bands rehearsal when we try and play prog !!😂
  17. I've always been a Rush fan and My drummer friend has recently been getting me into more modern prog with the likes of Porcupine Tree and Steve Wilson's solo work. I've never gotten around to listening to any Yes though it's been on my todo list for a while now! This thread spurred me on and so I'm listening to Fragile right now (no idea if it's their best album but I recognised the most song titles). It's very of it's time but quite enjoyable to listen to. Loving Chris' tone and playing on this album!
  18. I've tried loads of DI pedals since I started this thread. Sold them all on, a mix of them not really working for me and perhaps me not really knowing what to do with them. During lock down I wanted to do some recording so picked up a Tech21 Sansamp Bass Driver from GAK when I was in Brighton. Such as solid pedal, sounds great direct into my audio interface. The SVT and Bassman presets are both brilliant starting points for a couple of very usable sounds. Looking forward to a rehearsal and trying it in front of my Markbass to give it a bit more life.
  19. Great video, thanks Stew!
  20. New singer and new band name? This thread should keep us going for the next few months!! I am bummed for you though, absolutely nightmare!
  21. And I thought you guys had made up! Anyway, seems like this was on the cards for a while and he didn't seek to be very constructive so it's probably for the best in the long run. What's the plan - audition for someone new or go with session singers
  22. Fantastic - looking forward to EP #2!!
  23. @Giacomo - can you do a shot of the full fretboard please? I love PRS inlay designs and am curious to what's on this bass.
  24. Bass - Sadowsky 4 string Jazz JJ or PJ in Dark Lake Placid Blue Amp Head - Ashdown CTM 200
