  1. No, I don't know about custom tone. I will need to check it out. I completely re organised the virtual board yesterday and updated the synth patches - re recorded and replaced the mp3s in the previous post. I think I prefer these a little better. The other thing I'm really struggling with is to get a good envelope filter effect on bass, especially with the Mutant Filter - anyone got any patch settings they've found have worked nicely?
  2. Back to the Helix - I finally got round to doing the latest 2.92 update. The new Billy Sheehan Bass compression module looks good - I just swapped out the LA comp on one of my virtual boards for it but I couldn't see the new gain reduction meters - are they not available on the HX FX? Any other items to note on the latest update for us bassists?
  3. How's the low B string sound on a 32" scale? I've always been of the impression that 5 strings just don't work with any less than a 34" scale neck. Would love to see that theory proved incorrect.
  4. I've been thinking about a SA C4 for a while now. Maybe I'll ask father christmas
  5. Me too - they're just not into it :(. As I said the patches aren't perfect and I keep tweaking them to get them better but for playing along at home they work OK. Ultimately synths and filters are just not what the helix excels at.
  6. Quickly re-recorded (with latest patches) the intro and first verse of Deeper Undeground for you (the playing's a bit rough but you get the idea). With Backing Track - deeper-mix.mp3 Isolated Bass deeper-isobass.mp3
  7. Personally I'd go with WordPress but it's probably not as easy to get started with as something like Wix.
  8. Only purchased 3 three things this year (other than strings): Best - Tech21 SansAmp Bass Driver DI Worst - Peterson Clip On Tuner Absolutely nothing wrong with it, it does a great job of tuning my bass but £50 for a clip on tuner??? What was I thinking - I could have bought 4 snarks for that price and they do the job just fine.
  9. Re-writing this post as I've completely changed the structure of the board. As per the patch name I primarily set this up for playing along to Deeper Underground by Jamiroquai board, but have adjusted and expanded it for some other songs too, like Little L and Feels Like It Should. Current virtual board: Top (clean line) Mutant Filter Bass Octaver ZeroAmp Bass DI Bottom (Synth Line) Rochester Comp Synth String Simple Pitch Cave Reverb Industrial Fuzz Tron Up Synth Patches and Use Footswitches configured like this: Bass Octaver and Bass Compressor are always on when using the synth patches Synth Strings activates the Synth String, Simple Pitch and Cave Reverb patches together for the intro of Deeper underground Synth Bass activates the Industrial Fuzz & Tron Up patches for the main synth sound in that song. I play the riffs up past the 12th hence the Bass Octaver, the line split gives me a blended clean and synth signal.
  10. Honestly I'm not using the expression pedal much, mainly have it set for EQ adjustments like the Tilt control I mentioned in previous post. However since getting the Shuker bass the EQ is so flexible in the Pre Amp it's negated the need.
  11. was still there when I just looked. I'm struggling to understand his eBay ratings - they seem overwhelmingly positive. I'm not saying he's gaming it but it looks like he may have more than 1 repeat buyer 🤔. 1 person bought 3 in a row.
  12. I feel angry these items are being sold.
  13. Me too please - this a very cryptic thread and I am intrigued
  14. Was an opportunity for me to have a play with Abobe Premiere - I went a bit over the top with the second one
  15. The wording of the goverment restrictions is pretty loose - there's plenty of loop holes that can easily be exploited. The intent of the lock down is to slow the infection rate of a potentially fatal virus whilst balancing that with the need to keep the economy going. It's a choice we all have to make regarding our personal principles and if we support that intent and abide by the spirit of the current restrictions or look for ways to work around them. I'm fortunate in that music does not represent any income to me and I can work from home full time. Music is purely a leisure activity and so another month of staying home and collaborating remotely is no big deal. I can see why those who heavily rely on the income of gigging would have a very different view and it appears many studios are staying open to support those in that position.
  16. Anne Widdecomb is pretty effective
  17. This is true!! My brother lives in Cornwall, and he plays bass in a country band!
  18. She's a real talent isn't she. I love that video you shared and have watched it many times, along with this one It's funny though as I did try giving a couple of her albums a go on Apple Music but couldn't get into them - must try some others.
  19. Great looking rig - can't wait to hear it
