1.
I have a series of gigs coming up depping on bass for a local (I think slightly tongue in cheek) country band.
I love that shirt, where did you get it from?
 2.
fyp....here's a pic of Tony's latest tour rig taken when the Black Spiders visited the office few weeks back -
That's how it's done. \m/
 3. My very first bass cab. Hope yours doesn't sound as bad as mine did. These things weigh a ton and they were rated at 200w, so with some better speakers you could have a great cab.
 4. Hi Joel, what did you think of Slayer at ATP?
 5. And Rob had to destroy the moulds, so I doubt these basses will ever be built again. Shame. Maybe a Warwick/Status collaboration?
 6. A similar thing happened to me a couple of months ago. I got back with an old singer/guitarist, auditioned a couple of drummers and I jumped ship because the stuff we were doing wasn't what I was about anymore. I play a similar style to how you have described and I am looking for something a bit more experimental.
Yeah man - it came out better than I hoped it would - I made this vide shortly after getting the bass - and it highlights the kind of tones it can produce - still love this instrument but it gets a bit neglected thanks to my other Sei 5 string Single Cut, but I'm not selling it http://youtu.be/N4OqNvamScM
I love the colour in that piece.
 8.
John Mcvie. Not a shadow of doubt in my mind that this bloke could throw out chops with the best of them yet his playing is always subservient to the song. Throughout his long career he has always played with a lot of restraint and self control. I don't know of many others who were content to remain in the shadows as such an unsung hero . Just listened to Gypsy, awful song but a lovely simple bass line a little reminiscent of James Jamerson on The Temptations Just My Imagination insofar as its a really easy to listen to line from a bass player playing well within themselves
I would say that he is subordinate, not subservient. It's his choice to play supportively.
 9.
Never liked Zeppelin much, despite being an ageing rocker, never liked Bonham, hate that slack-arsed sound. Someone once said he sounded like someone falling down the cellar stairs carrying a load of boxes, and I never got that out of my head.
As an ageing rocker, what kind of things/bands do you like?
 10.
I'm in! I live in West London but maybe somewhere like St Albans (which is on the Thamelink) There's a pub called 'the Horn Re-born' (- they have a stage in the back room. I'm sure they'd be glad to play host to lots of thirsty musicians on a quiet Saturday afternoon. Hohner B2A Hofner Ignition (violin bass) Westone Thunder 1A MIJ Fender Jazz '96
Been and gone, my friend. We will have to wait until the next one.
 11. That's heading towards a high action. Mark King has a 2.9mm @ the 12th, don't know what mine are. But over the years, my gauges have gone heavier and my action has crept up.
 12. He makes that bass talk. Great.
 13.
She is awesome. I am also aroused.
The older the wood, the sweeter the tune.
 14. Shut the f*** up, you silly ones, she is one of the greatest bass guitarists, ever. I'd like to see your back catalogues.
 15.
. Yes: Total Mass Retain (starts at 5:47) grabbed me by the balls then, and still does. Even Johann Sebastian Bach didn't do this, and he was fairly good at what he did with bass parts. Nice bass playalong here:
All of that bassline is incredible. My favourite bass guitarist by a country mile.
 16.
So in summary it's a success?
Absolutionly.
 17. What the hell have I just listened to? Sums up the olympics though, bloated, slightly menacing, confused, wothless and tragic, with no connection to anything except itself.
 18. ChaoTh, has he lost his front teeth.
 19.
Wouldn't call it w***ery at all. ChaoTh is a bloody fantastic bass player, talented and rights great lines, nice guy too! I'm friends with him in facebook
I'm friends with loads of people on Facebook, who wouldn't recognise me from Adam.
 20.
That was erm...not what I was expecting! I also had a small childish chuckle to myself about the fact that his second name is Manring. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qLeXaxlSbc8 a bit of 9 string w***ery however I think for the most part, it sounds pretty nice
What is that performance suppossed to represent? I really don't get this minor key, athleticism. Sounds like Dungeons And Dragons math metal.
 21. Is it worth the money and hassle? I fitted a U Retro to a Zoot bass that had a MM Bassline pickup, I fitted a multi-pole switch to get the coil combinations and it did sound fantastic but it's a lot of extra cash involved
 22. This weekend, I will start the renovation. I'll take pics all the way through with descriptions of each stage, then at the end I'll post the whole thing in one go. It won't be the epic that Bloodaxe did a few years ago but hopefully it will be of use to some folk.
 23.
Hmmmm ..... must check annual leave allocation in work tomorrow
What, you mean hols?
 24. That's a pretty far-out looking machine.
