2.
I like the little rock.
Sorry, 2 bits of brick.
3.
Not bad. A preset chord sequence and pockets of free-improvisation placed in uneven intervals along the composition. I particularly like the 'false start' mocking the standard jazz 'head'. The structure is novel but the free-impro is fairly standard stuff, IMO. It might be worth hearing more of their stuff to form a better opinion. BTW this kind of music is all very readable and not difficult to understand (or appreciate).
I like the little rock.
4. I can only drool at this, being of the left handed type. Good luck, stunning.
5.
I think that's the beauty of it!
Good lad.
6.
Music has only a certain amount of forms that can be stretched, before it becomes somebodies bliss and sombody elses absurdity.
And the above two interact!

8.

True.
9. Mine's very tidy, original strap, mutes, non epoxy pre, non original case, 9 out of 10 condition, so as a result I'm reluctant to gig it.
10. I use EMG's, sounds mental and very trad, depending on the J Retro's settings. Great piece of kit.
11. First of all, Hi Lee, good to hear from. I have a 1980 Stingray, lefty in sunburst, rosewood fingerbouard, it is a lovely bass. Price wise, we would have to see condition but generally they go for anything up tp 2 grand, depending on condition and originality. Look forward to seeing pics when you're back from holiday. Steve.
12.
Japanese ones are nice
Japanese Fenders are fantastic. My 62 Jazz bass is as good, if not better than a US version.
13. Rock and Roll? Les Miserables with Just For Men on tour. Eddddddiiiiieeeee.
14.
Dribble!...
I love your Hotlips quote.
15.
If they are there instead of a pickup selector switch are you not just turning the volume of both down? If it's at more than one point it could be the pot's sweeper is oxidised, it's possible a squirt of switch cleaner might help. Standard procedure would be to try it with a different lead, & then with a different amp. After you've put a new battery in it of course. Have you a decent music store near you, one that might have a good repairs guy?
I've just bought one, with no problems. But as Stu says, a quick clean of the electrics could solve this. More detail with the problem please. Where do you live? If you are near the Wirral, I'll take a look at it for you.
16. Hmmm.
17. Gorgeous. What did you trade?
18. Nice. Where did that come from?
19. It is a thing of beauty. If I could afford it, I would put an offer in. Being a lefty myself, this would be so nice to have. If I had the money I would give $30,000 for it. But I don't have anywhere near that, so I'll stop fantasizing.
20. I was thinking the same. Headstock is a bit strange. There is a cheaper range, Tanglewood, I think. Something not 100% about this. Any Overwater bods know about this?

22.
In a word, ethos. I saw them several times in 79/80 and they were totally mesmerising. But I can't imagine a newcomer "getting" them from this distance, just as back then I didn't "get" 50's rock'n'roll. (Still don't, mostly!)
Brilliantly put.
23. Brilliant call, Clarky. Lets put it this way. Steely Dan had their admiration of faded hipsters, long gone comforts of nuclear families, and had a canny ear for excellence. Joy Division had faded families all around them, a world class image making machine and a great prouducer. You take from what is around you.
24. Pete, you like what you like and other people like what they like.
25. be the coolest one in the band, ie, the bass player.
