  1. Hi all, I think you all know I play mainly reggae and dub, but I’m really enjoying simple grooves especially on my precision’s with flats for that thumpy muted sound , I’ve watched a lot of videos especially Sean Hurley and what really makes the basslines flow is the ghost notes, I’ve been practicing this a lot and I’m getting there slowly, can anyone recommend any tips and videos to check out, found this one yesterday by Ivan which is quite good and I’ve been working on this for a while
  2. Hi Paul, I really like the look of those , in your experience what are they like for the deeper end of bass, lots of the videos I’ve seen only show them sounding fairly bright
  3. Nice one T-h , I was reading up on the chantells a while back and after they split up Samuel bramwell did this track, nice version at 2.45
  4. Great one frank ☝️
  5. I remember when that came out, I kinda flicked through it at the time and there wasn’t any big tunes there, I must have a proper listen now 👍
  6. I really like those, when Andy Baxter was local to me he used to have quite a few of the 1960s ones and I never really paid much attention to them at the time, kinda wish I’d bought one now as they were a lot cheaper then
  7. So enjoying your journey upside downer, thank you 👍
  8. They do come up here now and again, maybe put a wanted ad up , I’ll keep a lookout for one for you
  9. I’ve been going through some Bob Andy tracks lately, some aren’t for me but I came across this i like, I’d only heard it by Barrington levy

  11. Hopefully someone here knows for you hiram 👍
  12. Ah cool, I tried to do a bit of research but I don’t do facebook and some of the other sites so couldn’t really find out much
  13. They had an ad recently on gumtree for a bass player, I watched a few videos and they look ok

  15. Great one, thank you ☝️
  16. The Ampeg PF 20 or 50t sounds like something ideal for your needs
  17. Nice lineup, i like the 72 jazz, and miss RB was looking over my shoulder and likes the black one
  18. Yeah, that’s the thing, there’s been lots of basses I would have bid on if there were the usual pictures of the neck stamp and pickup dates etc, I suppose it’s a chance you would have to take but I’m not willing to do that for quite a few thousand
  19. They get better with time as well, maybe a bit warmer sounding but nothing drastic, they really matched my precision’s well
  20. I saw those, they only seem to give basic info on their basses when I asked, and it’s a bit of a journey for me to have a proper look
  21. Welcome 👍
  22. Nice one t-h , One of my favourite artists, there’s a good video on YT of Linval telling his musical journey from the early days, it’s worth a watch
