  1. Oh, and it certainly wasn't my intention to include you as "that type of buyer". I didn't think that for a moment. As you alluded to in your previous posts on this thread - in many scenarios, there actually would have been more "buyer protection" available to you if you had agreed to pay via Paypal in advance, and of course, the fees are applied to the seller... I think most would agree that under the eBay/PP system, there's more protection for buyer's than seller's. To answer your question(ish) of whether it was odd or unusual for the seller to request PP payment prior to collection - in my opinion, no. It's not unusual. Of course, some sellers choose to go the other way, by insisting on "cash on collection only". I think neither is right or wrong, however it is up to the seller to decide those terms. In this case, the seller's terms seem to have caught you unawares. Q: If the seller had expressed the payment terms more clearly (perhaps by stating it in the item description) - do you think you'd have still bid for the item after having more time to consider it? Phil
  2. That's my understanding as well. Just like regular auction rules. Yes there are circumstances where you can reject the goods, but an auction price is certainly not a starting point for "a certain type of buyer" to arrive at the sellers home and haggle the price down. That's possibly why a number of eBayers don't offer "cash on collection" in their payment terms. Others do of course, which is up to them.
  3. Nobody has suggested a short scale bass? I recently bought one from this very boutique, and the results are quite amazing. If I'm practicing a line that's a bit of a stretch on a long scale bass, I try it on the shorty "guitar scale" Jazz, and sure enough, I can usually play the line faster, and less sloppy. The incredible part is, when I then switch back to the long scale, I'm playing the line just as well as I was on the shorty - due to the luxury of more space on the neck. I figure if I keep repeating that process, I will become infinite! πŸ‘
  4. Rockers Revenge the decent chart band from the 1980s?
  5. Probably best to pipe this through your bass amp, unless you've some pretty big hi-fi speakers. 😎
  6. As if you could buy eggs at this time of night on a Christmas Eve! πŸ˜‚
  7. Hi Marc, Ahh yes, "Teal". A bluey green, rather than a greeny blue. πŸ‘ I do fancy a Stingray, and there's one for sale via eBay in my home town! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ernie-Ball-Musicman-Stingray-Classic-Limited-Edition-Powder-Blue/332795478606?hash=item4d7c28024e:g:SZYAAOSwxn1bkSZA I don't know if it's a great model / version - but it's been there for weeks, just teasing me! 😁
  8. Welcome aboard... πŸ‘
  9. I like the blue one. πŸ‘

  11. I totally thought you'd made that name up! 😁
  12. Very musical people, aren't they? I mean gospel musicians are! Not the other thing... I'm not Mortimer Duke!! 😁
  13. Hope you get it for a good price, Andy. Hopefully the early bids are just getting the lowballs in before Xmas! πŸ‘
  14. Same as above! Although to be fair, I only looked twice... including just a moment ago.
  15. Was it from Bristol? If so, I came very close to bidding on that one myself, but as it looked "very used" and I know knack-all about Warwicks - I thought I'd better not.
  16. Good points, received with thanks. πŸ‘ Looking at your Jazz build thread now... I like your style, Sir! 😁
  17. I was thinking of buying one of those eBay necks myself (a maple fret-boarded J neck, to go on my cheapo P copy), but it's no good to me if the frets are as bad as yours were... Nice headstock transfer by the way. 😁
  18. I knew he'd be back... πŸ‘
  19. I hope not, I've just had a set of FM66 "FUNKMASTERS" delivered... is it stil fashionable to coat one's fingertips in Superglue?
  20. How about "The right honorable member for >insert your nearest town here<". πŸ‘
  21. Because, for a joke - somebody once told John Hall that it was Fender' interlectual property. 😁 *any spelling errors in this post are deliberate, for comedic effect.
  22. I wonder if anybody has ever actually taken a woodworking plane to a Ric' body, to create a "Fender style" forearm relief? 😲 edit: It would have to be an unbound body of course - otherwise that'd be gross.
