Bought new in 2001, from Flying Pig Music, this combo has had home use only and is in excellent condition with no scratches, scuffs or marks on the carpet cover - It's heavy (I am sure you already know that 🙂) ......but if you want the Trace Elliott sound and 300 of their watts, then this might suit you. It has 7-band EQ, pre-shape button, compressor, effects loop , Line Out and Balanced DI out........It's the only bass amp I have ever owned, but I fancy a change and I have ordered a Rumble 500, so this needs to be sold to make some room. In the interests of clear communication, I will not post it, courier it , put it on a pallet etc. etc. - I value an easy (for me) transaction more than squeezing the last pound out of the deal - Therefore Collection only from Beaconsfield. Edited on 9/6/23.... It's going on eBay with a starting bid of £125.... if I get a bid, I will have to withdraw it from here. -

I have a TE 7215 SMC which I bought new from Flying Pig Music about 20 years ago and it is absolutely mint - but like many people I am no spring chicken now and it’s heavy - as we all know… and I would struggle to sell it for anything worthwhile … I never read anything about taking the head out and re-housing it and then using a lighter modern cabinet - is that a viable plan ? -
Steinberg have a sale on at the moment and all upgrades are discounted. I have the Variaudio in my Cubase Pro (although I am just an amateur !!) and it is very good. I believe that the Variaudio is included with Cubase Artist nowadays. Also - you said in an earlier post that you do a load of takes of your vocals.... the Artist version and the Pro version of Cubase have a special "comping" function to help you assemble the best of your material.

I hope it’s ok to ask the build experts about this, as it’s not bass guitar related,.... I am thinking of having a crack at building a lapsteel guitar out of a 40mm thick block of maple.... I have limited woodworking skills so don’t feel confident in gluing a sandwich of different coloured woods together, so I was wondering what I might be able to do to the edge of the lapsteel to give it a bit of interest ? Any suggestions will be welcome. Thanks !

I bought this Keyboard Workstation new about 15 years ago, and it has some fantastic sounds and functionality, including a 16-track HD recorder built in and the KARMA function. I have recently got more into using a DAW for recording as there are so many great sounding plug-ins out there nowadays. I just wondered if anyone else has this keyboard and whether they are still making music with it ?

This type of discussion never goes anywhere because we are dealing with incomplete information whenever money forms part of the discussion. If everybody’s opinion was in context, then what they say would mean a lot more. By “context” , I mean.... how much do you earn.....how much do you have saved in the bank.....how much disposable income do you have.....does your wife/partner have any view on your spending habits.....do you expect any instrument/equipment that you buy to have any re-sale value etc. etc. Then... if someone says he won’t spend more than £100 on a bass guitar (and the context is that he is out of work, has no money in the bank and his wife/partner goes mad if he spends any money) we will understand his opinion. Of course, this is never going to happen, so these discussions (whilst interesting) will never give the complete picture.

No - you don’t need a loop-switcher..... you just need to dump all those pedals and buy an HX Stomp.......😀

VERY good.... I have done an amount of tracking and mixing with older school gear (Akai DPS-24 hard disc recorder) as I prefer that to a computer set up.... I agree with what you said in an earlier post - I think you may be overthinking it.... and although I read an opinion where the bass should be panned dead centre, I think with your band I would go with a little bit of pan for guitar and bass. That’s the fun thing with mixing - you can try various set-ups and see what you like best. The energy of the band is going to come across whatever you do (within reason) so I don’t think you can go far wrong. Good luck with it !

I bought loads of different pedals and then decided to sell them all and just use an HX Stomp..... like most “programmable” equipment, you get out of it what you put into it....I am sure it can’t produce all the esoteric tones and effects of individual pedals but it’s fine for my use. Editing on the box itself is quite easy, or you can do it in the software on your PC. Best of luck, whatever you decide to do.

I ordered a MIDI bass guitar last October with a build time of “6-12 months”... with the Covid situation, there has been a bit of a delay but I am told by the builder that it should be ready by the end of next month. In anticipation of that, I have bought a Roland JV-1010 sound module on e-bay yesterday, and I hope to eventually fit that to my pedal-board.

Can you clarify.... you don’t use pedals.... or you don’t use pedals that are located on the floor... it’s not clear to me...or maybe you mean you don’t use stuff that you press with your foot to change the tone of your bass, but you do use stuff located elsewhere...?

Yes - it’s really just to keep it tidier... but as I said, I really don’t notice any latency at all, so apart from the additional expense, I don’t see any downside..

Yes - I am wireless. I have an Xvive Transmitter on my bass guitar and an Xvive receiver on my pedal board..... and the output from my pedal board goes through an AKG wireless transmitter to my bass combo on the other side of the room..... It’s a 2 channel system and the other channel is attached to an output socket on my patchbay, so I can play another source through my combo if I want to. i cannot detect any latency.... that doesn’t mean there isn’t any.... but I can’t detect it....

If there IS latency, then it should be consistent across the whole recording..... so why not just move the Vocal track a tiny bit at a time in Audacity and then listen to see if you are happier with the results.... of course, if your timing is dodgy as well, then that’s a whole new kettle of fish. Best of luck with it.... I like Audacity for editing, but I track using an Akai DPS-24 and then export the wav files.

Guarantee it will NOT close tonight..... Don’t forget, even though SBL is based in UK, it’s really aimed at America... why else would everything be priced in US Dollars...... Having said all that, I am a Life Member and I think for the price I paid, it is great value for money.

I use the MorningStar box with my Stomp.... it is very comprehensive with all the MIDI messages it can send.... there is a new 8-button Morningstar now, if 6 is not enough.....I use a separate foot switch to go up and down the banks on the Morningstar....

If you are spending £150 quid on an interface, you may as well get an HX Stomp which can act as the interface AND gives you loads of great sounds..... only another £300..... go on... treat yourself..... you know it makes sense !!!
