Love the fact that EBMM has made this a reality, and even if I think the Game Changer will be more of a game changer for guitarists I'll definitely be looking forward to trying a GC-equipped reflex out one day.

Pretty bad form among the posters there - he does his thing and that for one is worth some respect.

Amazing, just amazing. OMG. Here's the bass sans mutes:

The EBMM madness goes on in the house of BB3000S - these are the final (?) two additions to my EBMM collection, after having gone through a whole lot of wonderful basses the last couple of years I've come to realize that EBMM Stingray is the bass for me. Just love the feel and sound. As I was increasing my Stingray quota I could not resist the temptation to try out an EBMM Big Al as well - and boy am I glad I did. Really cool bass with loads of tonal options, almost all of them amazingly good. The 4band Eq however is not an immediate love, much prefer the SR 3band. The Eq might grow on me over time, but there's hardly a need for it IMO as it sounds just wonderful in passive. The middle PU in particular is wonderful - on its own it's a real P-bass killer, and together with the bridge PU the bass has a wonderful voice all its own. The Stingray 4HH is one of 21 4HH's in Dargie Delight - a finish EBMM offered for a time window of only two weeks back in 2007. Apart from the looks it's truly a great Stingray. Good stuff - EBMM really rules.

My new fivestring, 20th Anniversary SR5 HH - an amazing bass to say the least. The neck is to my taste one of the absolute best I've ever had on a fivestring, playability is just awsome and the tonal versatility is wicked. Yep, I'm happy!

Mark is definitely one of the all time greats, truly amazing. Love his slapping but just as much his impeccable fingerstyle grooves and choice of notes.

Thanks guys! Yes the 30th's are really nice, the Gibson vibe really works wonderfully on the SR design. My 30th actually weighs 4.3kg, which is spot on the same as my 20th posted earlier. Nevertheless, the 30th definitely sounds even more "Stingray" if that makes sense. The difference isn't huge, but it's clearly there when you A/B with fresh strings - even acoustically.

My beloved 30th anni SR4, just celebrated our two year anniversary. Love it to bits, one of my all time favourite basses.
MB1. I was put off these when they first came out by the Glued Scratchplate?...Sad But True!...Scratchplates should be interchangeable!...By Law!
Same initial reaction here, but I got over it pretty quickly. I actually got this one by trading away a 20th without scratchplate. The 1st owner (or a very early one) had remowed it w heat (think iron), you could only very barely see a difference in shade where the scratchplate had been. Have to say the PU looked mighty lonely on that one. IMO, this is the way a 20th should look. I'll try to get a shot or two of the neck later.

20th Anniversary SR4 - The feel of the neck is just amazing on this one. And you just gotta love that quilt.

So many beautiful jazzes in this thread! That Nordstrand Seafoam Green really is stunning, I also have a soft spot for Sonic Blue and Daphne Blue. Either one of those finishes would do it for me, board could be either RW or maple but should preferebly be blocked and bound. I also do love the look of my current hard-to-photo-correctly -78 Olympic White Jazz: And these two I still miss for looks, even though they didn't cut it soundwise compared to the -78. The LPB (a colour I personally prefer with dotted board) is a CIJ (2002 if I remember correctly), the natural is a -73 that was stripped in the 70's and since aged to a really nice warm finish.

Traded basses with Ville a while back, and throughout our dealings he was an absolute diamond! Highly recommended. In addition, the bass I got from him is now one of my all time favourites, so I'm really partial to the guy.

Just bought a wonderful Mk1 TRB-5 from Vince, and in every aspect he gets top points as a seller. Crystal clear CSI grade photos, excellent and quick communication throughout, bass very well packaged and promptly delivered. Vince is a lovely fellow, highly recommended.

Here's my Sandberg, one of my all time favourite basses - plays and sounds like an absolute dream!

Slightly embarrassed to be asking this, but...
Should the onboard EQ be treated like the EQ on an amp (i.e. mostly flat, then tweak to reach desired sound)?
Yep - you nailed it. Don't think there's anything wrong with your preamp. My experience is with 4-string Stingrays, and I too find that especielly the Treble needs to be handled with care, I usually just boost a tad or none at all. I'm more generous with the Bass and often land with the Mid boosted somewhere in between Bass and Treble. Or Bass & Mid equally boosted. Or pull back on the treble even for a more wooly sound. It's very versatile! On fun setting is with Treble and Bass to the max and Mid to the min. Then put a dampening thingy between pickup and bridge, and voila! you have a really cool sound added to your arsenal. (No, I'm not kidding, it works!) -
