Theres also a Westone Thunder leftie on the big guitar auction mentioned elsewhere on the site (the exchange on vintage fender mustangs)

Thanks. I think the one Sting is playing has a very slightly different controls layout and different looking pickups (and it's fretless!), but they are both called the same thing.

So what is the fretless Sting is holding on the cover of Zenyatta Mondatta

Your Bands Best Spinal Tap Moment
Piers_Williamson replied to Bluewine's topic in General Discussion
We played for years with Hugh McKenna, who had been the keyboards player in SAHB for ages (we still miss him today.....he died just before the start of Covid). He described a support gig they did in the States, where, just before going on stage he had been offered a particularly potent spliff (he said 'he was a particularly greedy pig in those days'). Anyway said spliff had a bit too powerful a hallucinogenic effect. They were kicking off their set with 'Give my regards tot he Chef' (see vid of 'normal' performance below). For some reason, instead of the atmospheric build-up line, Hugh decided to play 'three blind mice' instead of his normal introduction, much to the incomprehension of the rest of the band. -

Bring out your inner Alan Lancaster!

They really are lovely basses aren't they. So reliable, stable, good looking and most of all, great sounding.

You're not planning on putting them on the stove are you?

The looks of this bass are tremendous, if not particularly faithful to an original Jazz https://www.bassdirect.co.uk/product/nash-guitars-jb-63-sonic-blue-medium-aged-left-handed-pre-owned/

THe mystery deepens!

Jaco trashed it. The bass of doom is the careful reconstruction of the bits as I understand it.

How much do vintage strings cost then?

That must be the most famous bass on Basschat out front

Not at all sure about that Logo. Maybe the neck's been re-varnished/re-fretted and someone botched the decal replacement? All the lefty precisions I've seen from that period simply have the Fender Logo on them

Good luck with the second run up/run down on Master Blaster!

I love the bass and the bass sound, but then I play a 70s Precision with La Bellas. Some of the basses Olinto produce look fantastic. This guy also looks like he has a lot of top-notch basses looking at his other vids.

Challenge acknowledged. I was just trying to make the point that I didn't expect Lindisfarne to be so popular (as I didn't really know them as a band). About the same time I took pictures of what must have been the last Q Tips gigs before Paul Young discovered Pino. It was a sunday night gig, where the licence made them turn the amps off at 1030. Paul Young just kept singing Motown numbers acapella for another hour (along with everyone in the nightclub). The best gigs are always the most unexpected.

I wasn't into folk either. I took pictures at a Lindisfarne Christmas Gig at Leeds Uni in around 1982 at the height of punk. There were c 2,000 people there who knew all the words to all the songs. It was an amazing experience.
