Show your Wals... Appreciation Thread

Forgive me saying, but as soon as I saw the pictures, I knew it was my old bass. I get to look at 100s of right handed basses, knowing they're not for me (and they never say they are right handed😁) -

Does anyone get a bit sad when their own Wal turns up second hand. I commissioned this one from Pete the Fish: https://www.andybaxterbass.com/collections/bass-guitars/products/1993-wal-mk2-custom-shedua-facings I'm sort of happy because I have since acquired a slightly older one, in better nick (and at a lower cost)...but the Shedua on my old one is just gorgeous! -
A lesson in perfection - Freddie Washington

I came across this by chance.......Wilton Felder on the sax and Ready Freddy on the bass! If it's the same precision, he gets through scratch plates! -
This reminds me of an 'incident' with our old Keyboards Player, Hugh McKenna from the Sensational Alex Harvey Band. Hugh was not very technically literate (but a brilliant pianist). The battery that supported the motherboard of his Korg gave out and we promised to replace it for him before a gig. We had done our research and printed out various instructions on how to do the 'op'. Said battery was buried about 3 mother boards down, so we had his keyboard spread over quite a lot of the stage before successfully replacing the battery. Huw was quite nervous but we exuded an air of confidence. When we put it back together and it went through its set up was the point that I discovered that Keyboards could be tuned to different pitches (I didn't know this at the time). We opted for one only to discover that it didn't conform with all our instrument tuning. We ended up tuning by ear as the audience were wondering what's going on by then. At the very last minute I found the menu option for correct tuning (causing us to have a second panic), but at least Hugh was happy!

We liked that! Like Talking Heads, John Cooper Clark, the Byrds and King Crimson all rolled into each other!

Reluctant Sale (too many amps!). I bought this from the Bass Gallery and it was previously up for sale here (I missed it!). A very loud 400w into 4 ohms (I think this is a lot louder than my Mesa D800+). Great vintage tone. Gigged 4 or 5 times. Never really driven hard. Weighs 8kg. Very portable. An amp much loved on this site Includes a RoqSolid Sleeve Cover I had made in the price. Barefaced speaker NOT included!

I think that might depend on whether one has a plum in ones mouth (while playing one's Wal, naturally). Or there may be an Aussie interpretation of this too.....

It's not yours by any chance is it?

Well, anyone with a pedal-board should go and see it and/or cheese loving guitarists. Not as good as the first one, but our singer was crying with laughter through most of it. Great band outing.....

Did you get paid in wine?

The contrast in these posts is getting quite serious! I'm in danger of retreating into BassChat Cats for some reassuring content!

Looks like Statler and Waldorf were in attendance

That was a top quality cover Jazzyvee. Was there any compression on your Alembic?
