1. This is my new setup! Extremely happy with it. Don't currently have any need for anything else and the pres on it are awesome so this should be me for the foreseeable...
2. Bear in mind too, what you hear on stage is not necessarily what is out front, if you're all going through pa. Especially of your standing right close to your amp. I'll just repeat mostly what's already been said, boost the low mids slightly and just savour the sound of guitar/bass/drums. It's a lovely sound and I particularly like the 'holes' when the guitarist solos!
3. It's an eminence basslite s2010. To give myself some credit, I took the volume of enclosure recommended by eminence and built this with the same depth and width as my current combo, therefore this should fit reasonablely well underneath it. Ive got corner protector bits to put on too. All I need is a handle. I've got one which I was planning to use but it's huge and I would be worried about cutting out the size of the hole needed for it. If it works OK and sounds fine I'll just pick up a strap style handle I think.
4. You may or may not have noticed, over the past few years I've been in and out of everyone's cab build threads, picking up valuable information and tips on how to go about my own build. I took everything I learned and ignored pretty much every single part of it! I used mdf... I didn't tune it... I've not vented it... I didn't recess the speaker.... And this is the result! ? ? I can't even test it as my only amps at our rehearsal room! Doh! I should add, the only outlay I had was 8 quid for the glue. Everything else (down to the paint) is stuff I've had lying about, so don't feel too bad for me when you're checking out my attempt!
5. I'm very much in the 'flip it, why not give it a go and see what happens' camp. Not everyone needs to know how things work. noone gets hurt, and as long as you're prepared for the worst case scenario then I say go for it! ? (Terrible advice)
6. These are tremendous. I had a set for a while and lost them, and bought a similarly priced set which are rubbish. So much so I went straight online to purchase these again. If you're a kind of person who never loses things then I'd certainly be inclined to get moulded ones but it's j st not feasible for me as I tend to lose them regularly. 20 quid well spent though Edt: talking about the alpine ones. Very comfortable too
7. I wouldn't be surprised he occasionally has a nosey in here.
8. As a total aside, I like you jet photos!
9. Damn, I forgot about Mr big gig! For anyone unsure of Billy's sound, I can vouch for his live tone... It really works! One thing I'm pretty surprised about though is Billy with a beer! I got the impression he was one of those live clean kinda guys! Dunno why!
10. I've always been impressed with Roland bass cubes.
11. Although I like the guy and like a lot of stuff he's played on, I have to agree with this. I find alot of his YouTube stuff is pretty average. I think his theory is outstanding, but technique a bit sloppy.
12. Yes, an old.
13. I upgraded speakers in an old 2x10 cab i had. Basslite s2010 were the speakers. I may have been lucky but they improved the cabinet immensely.
14.
I know it's a guitar demo, but see how close this is.... http://www.youtube.c...1&v=wC-TU-3TdeE
That's incredible!
15. I use one as I find it gives a more even volume over the 4 strings. But, if I don't have compression then it's not a huge deal for me. In fact, unless I was using the one in my multifx, then I wouldn't be getting a separate one. I would hazard a guess alot of bass players are similar to op and use one because that's what bass players are 'meant to do', rather than using one because they think it makes a difference.
16. I'm considering the cab, so I'd quite like to hear your thoughts and comments after a dozen or so gigs. Keep us informed!
17. Sold! I'll almost certainly buy another one down the line if the b3n isn't working for me, but my rule is not to have gear gathering dust.
18. Used but not abused. A few scratches and I've removed the rubber bottom and replaced with solid velcro. I love this thing, but with a new purchase of a b3n, this has become redundant. Works perfectly, and is boxed. This is worth the price just as a tuner! Based in Glasgow, but will post within UK for 4 quid
19. So I've had an hour play about with the b3n and this is my very non scientific conclusion: It's built like a rock. Amazed at the quality. Sound wise, I'm hard pushed to hear an improvement in the preamps. Also, having a svt with cab sim, it seems to take up 3 slots from 7, so all of a sudden one of the benefits of this over an old b3 has been reduced! The synth effects are improved. I quite like one of the synth effects on my ms60b but it's pretty basic, I seem to have a bit more breadth to play with. The dirt tones seem to breathe a bit more. Less fizz. Looper has to be an effect within a patch. Not separate. As far as I can tell. Octaver is similar to the ms60b, can't tell a huge difference in tone or tracking. Positive is a master volume. Positive, you can choose tap tempo or tuner when you hold down the mute button.. My ms60b needs you to choose between the two. I seem to remember the b3 bring the same. I'll add as I go. It's a mixed bag so far.
20. I'm just taking a punt on the b3n. The ms60b I use is perfect for my use, to my ears the preamps sound good enough. The only 'effect' I tend to use is the octaver so even if I change over to the b3n, it'll barely get stomped on... Well apart from tuning. I'd prefer there to be some audible difference but if not, not a big deal. Although on talkbass the consensus seems to be the dirt has improved... But i agree, that might just be the whole 'I've just splurged some dollar on a new toy so I need to way its great' effect.
21. Anyone else got any insight into this? I'm currently awaiting delivery of a b3n, and looking forward to it! I'll b able to a/b it against my ms60b but to be honest I find it really difficult to hear slight nuances when it comes to tone so i think I'd quite like to hear other points of view.
22. Pmd.... Very much doubt I was the first
I use one for one band where I'm not doing any effects changes - it's easy to have one effect switched but trickier when it's more than one. Not really viable in the same song but as long as you remember to switch the active effect between songs, it's fine. Good tuner, and the effects are good too.
I agree. It's possible but not easy and requires forward planning. For mucking about at home, or having it for 'always on' effects it's great.

You'll be pleasantly surprised at the sounds you get out it. I use mine every gig as my preamp, comp, eq and tuner. High gain stuff isn't great... But what digital multifx get glowing reviews for that kind of stuff anyway? It's svt through a 8x10 cabsim is good though when the gains a bit higher. Buy one! Join the club!
25.
Have you thought about the Amphones? You can detach the quarter inch jack and use them as regular headphones as well. https://www.gak.co.u...kcaAjJMEALw_wcB
Never used these but I'd be more tempted to put the dollar into a nice set of headphones to use in conjuction with amplug.
