1. Shame about the neck dive sounds like a fine bass otherwise. My 8 string dives dreadful, but sounds so good I can't give up on it. Been wanting to try filling the control cavity with lead.... Would you consider using a strap extension?
 2. Wow, that's nothing like the one I played all those years ago.
 3.
Well, I placed an order... I'll let you know. I went for the 704 model, rather the 724 shown in the original link. The 704 has a two piece bridge.
My 6er has one of them 2 piece bridges, they're pretty cool.
 4. I played one once, a blue one, was the first bass I ever played, years before I owned a bass, would love to find one someday.
 5. There is the Kahler trem, another good option, less work/routing too, but a lot clunkier looking. http://cgi.ebay.ie/NEW-Kahler-Hybrid-7410-...=item53e5926959
 6.
Strange, I always thought the spacing on my BTB775 was pretty wide. On the website it doesn't tell you the spacing, or if it does then i'm too slow to work it out. On the off chance, does anyone know it?
BTB's have 19mm string spacing. Other Ibanez models are 16.5mm spacing.
 7.
Anymore hiding in the community?
I bloody well hope so!
 8.
Now we will have all the Shine fanbois over here because of your string spacing comment I feel sick: I really want one, even though I don't need one and it seems unlikely I'll ever play one outside the house... but for £142 I'm finding it hard not to bite...
Just don't cross post me to the Shine forums, I'll be hung drawn and quartered...... I don't blame you, there's a lot worse that kind of coin could be spent on.
 9. I bought a Shine 6 string off their ebay shop, and it's a pretty good bass, though the string spacing could be a touch wider. I think I also got my Shine Ricky clone from there, which I utterly and completely love, even over legit Rics, though I'll admit it's now heavily modded. That Tele bass looks pretty beast too.
 10. MM pickup. Preamp. Most importantly of all, Hipshot Bass Tremolo.
 11.
Try D'Addario tapewounds. Regular gauges, nice tension and sound.
Been dying to try them out. I use the Roto tapes, but keep having issues with the high G.
 12.
+1 to the Peavey Cirrus - probably the the narrowest of the 5 stringers I've played. However I play a Spector Euro 5 LX myself and I find that fine even though I don't have the longest fingers in the world. In fact of all my basses (Warwick SS1, Aria SB1000 and Spector Euro 5 LX) the Spector is probably my first choice bass 90% of the time due to its ease of play and tone.
I've played a Cirrus 5er, as narrow as it was(I prefer somewhat wider), it was super comfy, and the strings were so low.... so low.
 13.
alcohol and DIY tools... dangerous combo!
But it's soooooo much fun!!!!
Ah sorry not lbs, meant oz. Lol But still the difference I notice I a lot during rehearsal and when I'm practicing at home.
I'd believe it!
I will try and get some recordings done. It'll be interesting to see if anyone really notices a difference.
The only difference is body size and the Sterling having(brighter IIRC) ceramic pickups. I'd imagine the Sterling being somewhat brighter set flat, but both being capable of the same tones with some eqing?
Even with it's scars I still love my Ray, it's something I rarely put down in favour for something else.
Scars are good, personality!
 14. Bloody excellent example of a Sterling. Congrats.
 15.
P90s and Teles really work together, nice colour too. Next up from me, Tokai ES130
Tasty flame on that one!
 16.
Are you sure about that OLP? The SR5 is 17.5mm and I had heard (but never had one in my hands to see) that the OLP 5-string was equal or narrower, certainly not 19mm. I've been looking for a 19mm 5er and I'd have gone for an 5-string OLP like a shot if it had 19mm!
I played one in Dublin once, definitely very tight spacing, narrower than 17.5, 16mm maybe....
 17. Here's my old lawsuit Les Paul, And my recently acquired Telecaster.
 18. Nice pair! Dayum! Congrats!
 19. I've thrown 5 strings on a four string neck before, wasn't all bad.
 20. Congrats, they are truly beastly basses.
