1.
Yep, looks like Traben are no more. Shame really I love their basses. Wouldn't really play anything else. Personally I think the Havoc is a great sounding and great looking bass. They really got things right with their Chaos range of basses (not sure about all the others) and for Metal / Punk / Hardcore they knock most other basses into a cocked hat.
I have a pair of their older basses, a neck through 4 string Kore, and a bolt on fretless Tribal Sun 4 string, both in red. Really love them, great basses, I have a mind to change out the pickups & preamps, but I don't wanna mess with a good thing.
2.
Anyone know if they will custom build me a "34"inch scale 5 string bass? I only ever see 35inch scales.
They will yes, there is an upcharge though.
3. Reading this thread has been interesting, just want to ask if this plan of mine is safe. I plan on using a Genz Streamliner 600, which is 375w at 8ohms, with a TC RS-112 cab, which is a 200w 8ohm cab. From what I'm reading, I believe this is pretty safe, as long as I'm playing clean? Would it be so if I was planning on overdriving the pre-amp tubes? I don't plan on using it really loud, no more than jamming levels really, and most often probably lower.
4. Maybe the battery Roland Micro Cube. http://www.rolandus.com/products/productde...p?ProductId=940 Quite a nice bass amp, even has a bunch of built in drum rhythms to jam to, with their own volume control.
5. Oh my, that's gonna be awesome....
6.
It's possible to make a set-neck joint far less obtrusive than a bolt-on if you're clever about how it's constructed. However, if you look at this photo of the Reverend bolt-on neck joint: and compare it with this photo of the set neck joint: you'll see that there is essentially no difference in the heel shape of either. For me the whole point of having alternatives to the bolt-on neck joint is to allow better upper neck access. Yes I know it's supposed to make a difference to the sound, but IMO it's minimal and the pickups and electronics are far more important. For me this is an opportunity missed on the part of the manufacturer because their design thinking was sloppy. The original Reverend basses had some unusual features that gave them a unique, sound as well as the look and feel. These: not so much. Maybe it's time to start a thread about design dead-ends in bass guitars and why some manufacturers are still perpetuating them?
To be fair, a well designed bolt on can have super upper fret access too.
7. They're both run by Hanser Music Group, as is Michael Kelly Guitars and others. Kinda like Fender runs Jackson and such. It'd be a shame to see Traben disappear.
8. I'd love a Roscoe-bird one day!
9.
Lovely! Not a 'massive' fan of the LG shape... It's a little odd, but yours is possibly the nicest I've seen. The SKB is killer! Love the Diamond boards too... Amazing.
I dig it, but it is a pretty weird shape, that's for sure! Makes more sense when it's sitting in your lap, very comfy IMHO. Cheers!
10. Ooh! I'm in! Lovely CS, killer grain on that ash! I have these two, an LG 3005, and a fretless SKB 3005. The fretted is flame maple over ash, bubinga fretboard, and the standard maple/purpleheart neck, with Roscoe spec. Bart pickups, and a Bart preamp. The flame maple top is really thick though, half the body in fact. The fretless is box elder burl over spanish cedar, with maple and mahogany layers, lined diamondwood fingerboard, and the standard maple/purpleheart neck, also Roscoe spec Bart pickups, and Bart preamp. The fretless though, came stock with an Aguilar pre, but was returned to Roscoe for them to install the Bart preamp before I owned it.
11. Love 'em.... espcially since the Pedulla couldn't be more opposite to the Fenders.
12.
You guys are making me want to take a router to my newly acquired Ryder!
Go fer it!
13.
Cheers for that. I just noticed the reference to the "7 band semi parametric EQ". Don't the people who write this stuff actually look at the pictures of what they're describing, or is that they just don't know what a 7 band semi parametric EQ looks like? Actually I think the same description was given on the LG as well.
No problem dude! That's the main reason I wanted a closer look, I saw that "7 band semi-para" refrence, and couldn't figure out where half the dials had gone, hahahah!
14. Funny thing is, they're about the same size as an original Nintendo DS too!
15. Here, I was having some trouble seeing the details in the pics, so I downloaded bigger ones, thought some of ya'll might want a closer look.
16.
Fret-less is the best solution of bass trem
They're nothing alike.
17. The ones on Entwhisle & Stanley Clarke's are modified from guitar Bigsbys, IIRC. That said Bigsby did make some bass ones for Gretsch, for their White Falcon bass.
18. They're my 3 pickup basses, lotta fun!
19.
Fear not Darkstrike, she will be in all her glory! Few more pics, scratchplate, fingerboard, headstock and Walnut for the body.
Fantastic!
20. Digging the look of them blue J-5's with the soapbars.
21. Funnily enough, it's the one gear trap I haven't fallen into, always choosing basses I like the look, sound or feel of. Even when I bought my Roscoe Beck signature I bought it because I love the bass, only later finding out how awesome Mr. Beck is... Then again, I have modded one or two of my basses towards the style of influences( mirror pickguards ).
