1. I wonder if anyone has tried a domestic iron on very low heat? might do the same as the oven trick?
2. How about the scratchplate though? Seriously though, did you heat it whilst it was screwed to the guitar or off the guitar with some freestyle bending? (if that's a thing)
3. I've got a fair few M3 hex stainless set screws you can have if they do turn out to be metric. No rust issues on these little chaps!
4. I'm doing some work on an 85 MIJ Ibanez Roadstar 11 guitar, the plate on which has warped somewhat. It's single ply black. Any top tips for getting it straight again? I know some plastics have a "memory" and will revert to their original moulded shape under heating. Cheers MBA
5. I found that too at Ronnie Scott's last week at the Bebel Gilberto show - I looked round the room and I was the ONLY person grooving along in my seat. Eventually I stood up and grooved along at the bar with apparently the only other person in there with a pulse
6. Or a small multi-fx and do away with the board altogether?
7. I like HATN a lot, but never REALLY liked Miller's guitar tone. The notes are fine though. There's one or two other British guitarists of the jazz/rock scene that were good but had horrible tone, I'm thinking Gary Boyle for one...
8. Good result!
9. I'm sure I've seen strap buttons on the headstock of some older Precisions, but I've never seen one being utilized either.
10. This may be bringing to light that you have one or more slightly high frets in that region now the strings are lying closer to the board. Try rocking the frets with the short edge of a credit card to check.
11. Attach the strap at the head like they used to do with acoustic guitars?
12. Someone saw a strange amount of moisture on her lips, and it was also found upon her arms, and on her hips.
13. How does the displacement compare to a gen 2 Midget? Would they play nicely together?
14. Thanks for that link Douglas. I read it before I took the hoops apart and didn't really understand what was going on. It's clearer now I've seen how it goes together. I'll see how it goes - wonder if you can get the strip in black...? Cheers MBA
15. Probably better than any cab
16. So, my drummer put his size 10 DW5000 through my Flats bass drum head. I had a Remo head lying around but it wouldn't come up to tension at all. On inspection, the Remo powersonic has a deeper draw on the head and will never come up to tension with the arbiter tuning system. Any of you drummists had this issue and found a head that works, or some other workaround? Cheers MBA
17. There's a variety of music on all day, we are on at 5.30, and play slightly psychedelic rock. It costs a fiver to get in, and there is usually a mini beer/cider fest accompanying. Nice country pub setting in a small village, should be delightful! The Black horse at east Hanney. Cheers Jules
18. Well, good luck if you do decide to go ahead with it. I'd follow that build diary.
19. Nobody mentioned the Ashbory yet? I've never played one but some seem to like them.
20. Ok, first gig with the SM, a barn/function room on the side of a pub, vocal PA. Used on its own with a Shuttle6, so up to 300W, filled the place with ease, good loud vocal sound in the PA and monitors so we were a bit louder than usual. I used a fuzzy overdrive on a couple of numbers, cut the treble a bit on the pedal, tweeter on the cab full on, and I have to say it sounded pretty righteous. Didn't get any specific comments about my sound, but more complements about the band as a whole than ever before. Which was nice.
21. That sounds like a long-drawn out process, not to mention tricky! Good luck with it though. What's the model of that Gibson (or is it Epiphone?) that is a smaller bodied version of the 335? That would be pretty much the same then. I think it's a 339
22. Where did this come from? Have I been asleep? Couldn't see anything on their website...
23. What about the condition of the rest of the guitar?
24. Not chambered at all then? I have to say that's a very appealing design. Do you really need 3 though?
25.
This may be it! sometimes I hear a faint chorus effect on my bass, could this also be due to PU height?
Yes 100%, the chorus thing is exactly what you get with single coil pups too close, and will affect the intonation too. Good News, easy fix!
