1. i wish the audio was better because it looked/sounded very impressive from the little i could actually make out.
2.
Always fascinated by these. Ugliest headstock ever. But, I would.
Not a chance! You would have to go a long way to beat this for an ugly headstock: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/294441-laurus-t900xr-5-fretless-lined/

4. Yes you can but you have to buy the whole battery box. About £20 IIRC
5. How can you ignore the FACT that the charity would have received LESS money if this particular person had not placed the highest bid? How is that greedy or wrong?
6.
For me it's because the original auction of the item was for charity. I would normally have no problem as, like you rightly say, the seller got what they wanted and the buyer can do what they like. Just feels a bit off making money where a charity could make more. But that's the way of the world.
but the charity made all the money they could - in fact they made more than they would have had the winning bidder not bid at all. I am guessing the charity just wanted to get shot of it as quick as possible for as much as possible so chose the ebay auction route. the new seller will be hoping for a collector or someone with very deep pockets to come along and so will probably have to hold on to the bass for a while before it shifts. no one is getting a short deal here, it's just e-commerce in action. Ive done it before and I'll do it again if the situation presents itself.
7. whats with these comments? whoever bought the bass can do whatever they want with it. if they think they can sell it for a profit then good luck to them. the seller got rid of something they didnt want for a price dictated by the marketplace and the chosen selling method.
8. I had one of these too. As you say the price is a bit steep. I sold a 5II on here for much less than that recently. Great basses
9. Sold my SSD NS-94 to Alain. Pleasure to deal with
10. These are truly awesome basses. Perfect balance, outstanding playability due to very thin neck and very versatile sound. Nice and light too at 4kg. If I had to choose only one of my basses to keep, it would be this. This is a bargain for someone.
11. Recently sold my SSD NS-94 to Alain. He is a great guy and a pleasure to deal with.
12. Looks stunning and great value! Suggest you state your location though
13. Ive got another of these if anyone wants it
14. Surely if your lead is producing that much capacitance it is either broken or been terribly designed. The capacitance of any competently built cable should be so low as to be negligble.
15.
Well the restoration of my SB Elite is 1/2 way through. All the hacked in cavities have been filled, new machine heads, Armstrong pickup, switch, knobs, strap buttons and output socket. A lovely new rosewood trussed cover, a la Cliff Burton. The luthier did a nice neat job of all the hacking I did many years back. There now comes a long pause in the process while I save money for a total refinish. I'm going to have it refinished in black. And I need to find somewhere to replate the bridge.
I wouldnt bother with the replating the bridge. just polish it to death to remove whatever plating was on there and you will get back to the brass. when brass is polished properly it looks better than any gold finish I have ever seen... will post a photo of the brass bridge on my 1980 Vantage that I polished myself to give you an idea
16. this is posted elsewhere but I think it's appropriate to repost given the thread title From left to right: Status Series 1 5 String (modded with Aguilar OBP-3) Stuart Spector Design NS-94 1982 Ibanez Roadster RS824BB Aria Pro II Super Bass II 1980 Vantage VA-900B (modded with SD 1/4lb'ers and Aguilar OBP-3 running at 18V) '97 Warwick Corvette (German), Wenge neck, Bubinga body I also have a 1990 Warwick Streamer 5 string (neck thru with Barts) but that is currently under restoration so will post some pics of that once it's finished.
17.
Love that roadster amazing wood grain and has obviously been very well looked after.
thanks mate. yeah she is a stunner. in terms of how she looks now I did a light restoration including polishing the frets, refinishing the fretboard, polishing the bridge and saddle, and polished the trussrod cover. unfortunately I will have to let her go soon so if you or anyone else here is interested then let me know. cheers
18. Google maps is your friend!
19.
I've just asked my sister to buy this as a birthday prezzy for my brother-in-law (they live in New York).
I take it you don't like your brother-in-law? 😂
20. Maybe it's some kind of counter-neckdive device that he is skillfully employing!
21.
Seems to have been relisted. Everything looks legit to me on the listing that's there now... Neck pocket and neck stamps look good. Serial number on the back of the scratchplate. 76 decals were all over the place, it's well known. At the £1300 starting price it's at now, I'd call it a bit of a bargain. Have a look what they're asking for mid 70's Fenders in the London shops. If I was considering buying (I'm not, I have a 75 that's essentially the same) I'd ask for a close up pic of the pickup serial numbers, and the pot codes. This will date everything you need to know and you can buy without worry or walk away fully informed. HTH.
what about the strings being out of line with the neck - that really worries me!
22.
Am I crazy or doesn't that bass have a control cavity?
You appear to be correct and I can't believe I didnt spot that before lol! God only knows is the answer to the inevitable question...
23. Alex was perfect to deal with in his purchase of my Yamaha Trb5II recently. Payment was very fast and I would happily deal with him again
24. A neck thru think is thing of pure beauty for me and the tone no less pleasing to my ears! One of the few basses to cause me proper GAS.
