All those tube Traynors are fabulous.....but best suited for Guitar. They also have a relatively high value on the used market.

Much depends where they have been used IME. I bought and used a number of 58 and b58s in Florida over 13 years. When I got them back to Europe, 2 b58s had failed due to corrosion. We are talking super high humidity.

This is Rolls-Royce at moped pricing. I own AER AMP THREE and tried the bassic prior to buying the 3. It is an excellent combo but a little larger than I needed. Can’t fathom why this did not sell on Day 1, other than perhaps lack of familiarity with the brand. If you are on the fence and considering this combo, grab this bargain pdq!

November 2017 update. British Airways London to Seville. No way to get bass on as hand luggage . Guitarist ahead of me said BA is strictly enforcing their new ‘must travel in hold’ policy. Very aggressive lady at boarding said it’s “you or the bass in the seat” hand checked it at boarding and was lucky it came out alive. so watch out for BA

In our cases: 1. Wireless lost connection, pa continued to run but no control of any functions but show continued 2. Mixer stopped passing audio to speakers on vocal channels - no vocals audible - pa crapped out and show stopped Case #1 is perhaps avoidable with external router or physical connection. case #2 is not. We were not prepared to wait for #3. Maybe we were just unlucky but our reputation is on the line so we moved to safeguard it. The benefits of digital are manifold but peace of mind trumps them all.

You should keep AER on your ‘gas’ list for sure IMO. have Aguilar th500 and 2x Bergantino cn112 yet my AER AMP THREE gets the gig 80% of the time. Why?.....sonics and portability plus amazing connectivity for pa, subs etc. Also, as stupid as this is, a combo works best for me. Yes, I know, I know!!!!

Total agreement with ACTIVE speakers. Great brands have been suggested already but I would add QSC. Yes, they are £££ but well worth it. RCF great, EV has speakers at all price points, the cheaper ones are highly lauded at their price point . Lower down the price spectrum - Alto and Behringer have some acceptable stuff. Lots of positive suggestions re digital mixers but our experience has been less than great. We had disconnection issues and a total signal loss on a number of channels. Not great for a live band with no sound man. IMHO digital mixers are not ideal for ‘self drive’ bands where the players operate the PA. When they work, they are the schnizzle but when they don’t, it makes for challenges! We will wait for Gen3 or 4. For us, good old analogue is the way to go. There are great deals out there on analogue. Certainly recognise the benefits of digital but....didn’t work for us. Mics, stands and cables need your attention too, especially decent mics. There are so many good choices but not all mics suit all voices - take time to match them. Whatever decision you make - stick to ACTIVE speakers - what a fundamental positive change for pub giggers.

Fully accept your analysis of AMP ONE. However bought my AER used for less than BF and amp - full price is just nuts. Just tried a TE Elf which was very acceptable but through an Eden cab. However, the TE 2X8” CAB is loaded with Faital speakers and while 599, could do the job nicely. The ELF is just unbelievably minute - would love one. The 2 together - nice little system.

Had an outdoor gig the other day and fancied a bit more oomph on stage. Have an AER AMP THREE which covers most gigs very well but it’s 200 Watts, 4 ohms and has no provision for additional cab. However, it has a ton of connection opportunities on rear - 2 line outs (X,LR and jack), SEND, RETURN, SUB OUT. I have Aguilar th500 and 2x Bergs and thought I’d try to hook the 2 together. Has anyone had experience with such a configuration? What’s best way to hook them together? I know the AER controls inside out and wanted to continue using it as the pre rather than use the Aguilar set up which I find lacks tonal weight alone. I went with line out and it was ok but probably a mismatch on input impedance. Any help much appreciated.

Just bought a Yamaha 424x from Chris. Live in Spain which would put many sellers off. Not Chris, he did bang up job of dissembling and packing plus got bass in the mail super quick. Looking forward to reassembling and see how it all plays. Thanks Chris.

Stunned that this wonderful bass is still for sale at this price. Would grab it but already have one of Mike's PJs. This one looks to be a stunning example. Living 8 years in Seattle meant having the opportunity to visit the Lull shop on a regular basis and enjoying watching the crew at work producing great instruments. Mike is such a great craftsman and a fabulous bloke who always has time to chat, is open to new ideas and puts everything into his instruments. This bass at this price is an absolute steal. I have owned multiple Lulls and USA Sadowskys and they are both very close in playability but personally, I favour Lulls for sound. If this instrument had Sadowsky on the headstock, it would have been gone the first day. If you are in the market for a first class traditional Jazz Bass with the added bonus of Aguilar active circuitry, it is a no-brainer!

Steve sold me his AER amp three. I live in Spain and expected that might present a problem. Not at all! It was taken care of with great care and professionalism and I was playing it within a week. Great amp and great seller. Thanks so much.

Ahh but there is a solution to the 'weaker' pickup in the SB-2 and that is to replace it with a G&L El Toro pickup. My friend bdgotoh onTB Suggested it and it fits fine and is amazing. I realize that El Toros are discontinued but you might be lucky to snag one used on the boards. Will send pic when I get it from studio.
