...(And again, I say this with the caveat that a lot of these "craft" breweries do make great beer...in fact most of the ones in Derby are excellent. Perhaps it's a London thing...)
You'll know The Brunswick then. Nuff said. http://www.brunswickderby.co.uk/

 3.
Sorry, that was me. Great little uke with nothing wrong with it. Not a fan of the strings though.
Are those the squidgy synthetic rubber ones? I thought they felt like I was squashing bogies against the fret board. In fairness, I sometimes do that anyway but I resent being made to feel like I'm doing it even when I'm not. Know what I mean?
 4.
To be honest I had no idea the email would go to everyone regardless of the setting. It's the first time I've used it - and probably the last! Anyway you know where I'll be on the 4-5th of March if you want to offer some physical resistance ped
Hahahahahahaha!
 5. Man! You're like some sorta super sleuthing muso hunter. Thanks for that. I'm bopping my nut off!
 6.
Not sure whether this is the right place to post this. I received an email from [email protected] offering me 20% off tickets to the London Bass Guitar Show, as I imagine many other members did. I currently have the "Send me any updates sent by the community administrator" option enabled in my notification preferences - is there any way that I can specify that I only want to be sent important site-related updates, but am not interested in receiving unsolicited advertising or other special offers? S.P.
I didn't get one and I have that same option enabled. I too try to stop all unsolicited approaches via email. If however I had received it I'd have regarded it as a kind offer on behalf of those nice folks who run this nuthouse (said whilst grinning like a slashed sack). As it was, I read the notice of this offer on the forum. Even though I am not going, it was nice to know that our forum leaders are getting deals for members. Is it really that big a problem for you. If so, why?
 7. Dang! I was mildly aroused by the little Thumb. (Please keep all smutty thoughts to yourselves.)
 8. When you're playing it or just grooving, it has to make your top lip curl like you've just sniffed Gorgonzola. Then it's funk.
 9.
If you read 'Playing the bass with three left hands', it turns out you can play a gig without being plugged in and not notice it yourself!
https://www.amazon.com/Playing-Bass-Three-Left-Hands/dp/0571329969 This? Looks like a laff. Thanks for the pointer.
 10.
...suggest ( as I did in my last post) that you guys take this to private messages and sort it out away from the glare of this post.
Plus one. There isn't a lot more to be said here anyway.
 11.
...I put the beat in a sexy place...
That'll be why the bass is muffled then? Heeheehee, regards.
 12.
Hello and welcome to basschat Mr Swift. I hope the surgery you require is not too drastic and you recover quickly. We are ( mostly) a friendly bunch on here but for heaven's sake don't mention appearing on any stage with a music stand
Even though Chaka Kahn brought her own.
 13. The spoons player was seen muttering about this sort of stuff not being in his contract whilst warming a pair of large ones... spoons that is.
 14.
I've played with my bass plugged in to the amplifier for years. Turns out punters prefer it when it's not plugged in and they can't hear it.......
Chuckles
 15. I am a bit surprised that this is such an issue. I mean, if you expect as new, buy new. If it ain't what is says on the tin then you can gripe. If buying second hand nobody's stopping you from walking by if the thing doesn't meet your expectations. I suppose expectations are really what this post is about. Who is to say what is and isn't a reasonable expectation with summat as subjective as musicianship? Each to their own then.
 16.
A modular footprint and consistent socket locations would make pedalboard planning and wiring up significantly easier.
Of course it would.
 17.
Different sized footprints, different socket locations...if ever there was a need for standardisation...
You will be looking for people to conform either to left or right handedness next. That'll confuse most musicians as they are by-and-large ambidextrous without realising. The aircraft industry observes conventions which are upheld in other engineering disciplines; Taken from the pilot's seat view everything is numbered left to right and clockwise where appropriate. If there is a choice of whether a bolt can be inserted from above or below, above is preferred. This is simply so the bolt wont fall out if the nut slackens and drops off. Just a couple of examples. Exceptions are made where manufacturing or assembly constraints make it impossible to follow convention. Do all pedals tend to be counter intuitive? If the majority do there may be a precedent for making it so. As for pedal size... I'd agree that some of us larger footed, hairy arsed types may struggle with some of the pedals I have seen. Heeheehee, twinkle toes I ain't.
 18.
FWIW I am the buyer. And these are the strings. http://i.imgur.com/8K18FrD.jpg I have bought every single bass I have ever owned used and have never encountered a set as dead rubbery and useless. I'm a considerate ebayer and went so far as to buy from Jamie direct to save him ebay fees. So I was understandably a bit miffed to receive a bass with undisclosed finish wear and gross strings, simply because I would never sell a bass in such a manner without being fully honest about such things.
Sorry but I think it's all been said. Buyer beware. Just curious, what strings would you fit by choice yourself?
 19.
For future reference, brand new bass strings £1.71 plus 99p postage. https://www.amazon.c...=bass+strings+4
Deco strings?
 20.
I actually pulled the eBay ad as I was contemplating keeping the bass, the buyer contacted me after the fact and asked what it would take for me to sell it.
Hahahahaha! Just goes to show how greedy folk often shoot themselves in the foot on a deal. My advice would be to photograph the instrument without strings (but available on request at no charge) and put it up again. See what he offers you then. On reflection maybe not... it could make folk think you are hiding a potential fault.
 21.
Putting new strings on can often be a waste of time / money too. I bought something recently and the seller put on a new set of Rotosound Steels in a 50-110 gauge. I didn't ask for this, he just thought it would be a nice idea. I don't like Rotosounds, rarely use steel and generally have 40-95's on. The Rotos came off immediately and went into my 'spares' box.
Can I "have" them please? Heeheehee. Just to experiment really.
 22. Even the square root of one IS one. Maths don't lie.
 23.
Yeah I was aware of Newtone, however... There are only 2 sets of their bass strings available on the Stringsdirect site. Their own website is utter pants, and they only seem to do nickels and I prefer steels myself... ...but thanks anyway
Just get in touch and they'll do any string you like.
 24.
Pity there seems to be such a dearth of good quality British made strings...
Newtone is just up the road from me and will make strings to order quicker than I can get them at high street outlets. Just so's you know like.
