  1. Welcome DMP.
  2. Curved but in the same proportions as the constellation Aries following the lower bout.
  3. A stock neck. Aw, never mind. That last photo has made up for it.
  4. Oh... and welcome to the forum Lemonstar.
  5. "What makes this site work?" Elastic bands, bits of chewing gum and the knicker elastic from the last pair of knickers that Valerie Singleton wore on Blue Peter... mainly.
  6. Welcome Benji.
  7. One thing that is annoying about CDs and you still get it. Those damned plastic jewel cases. The hinge lugs break or you get a crack right across the front over the artwork or the internal lugs snap so that the disc drops out through the slightest opening of the case. They're rubbish and they belong to the last century! I much prefer the multi-fold cardboard sleeves.
  8. If I buy music I expect to get a little bit more than a collection of specifically arranged zeros and ones for my hard-earned. I buy Blu-ray audio disc, DVD audio disc, CD and vinyl. I sometimes download if it's free but I absolutely do not stream ever. Even YT clips are downloaded so I can watch them with relatively little interference. I may not be in your target audience however.
  9. A scratch built neck. Hooray!
  10. Quite right too! A talent like yours should never be idle. Gerronwiditt! Heeheehee
  11. Stick with it. I have the humbucker version with the licenced Barts and it's lovely. If it is of any help, I found that doing chromatic scales at first position helped a lot with string crossovers and generally getting used to the low B. I then found that I was enjoying my four stringers a bit more as they were more open spaced. I don't like doing drop tunings as a rule so it's good to have the five for those brass rich Northern Soul numbers. Best of luck with it.
  12. It's good to have either in my humble experience.
  13. That looks fine to me. Just the suggestion of a reverse "S" shape where the edge is thinned by the carve. Sometimes the two cuts don't line up in such a pleasing way.
  14. Do you get the wavy edge effect looking down on the upper edge at the belly and forearm cuts?
  15. Nice. I can't wait to see what happens next. Very @Jimotheyesque of you old chap.
  16. Welcome Joe. As you can see, you've come to the right place for advice. Fortunately, affordable instruments made these days tend to play well. You should easily be able to make a good sound without busting the bank. Of course after you buy your first there will come a time when you want to get another. This phenomenon is known as GAS...
  17. Welcome Bassbandit.
  18. You'd better beat it before it gets beaten for you then. I don't like the look of those bodyguards.
  19. Distinctive yet understated. Lovely job.
  20. Paging @HotblackDesiato
  21. But: What usually happens in Basschat is that we start picking at threads and wheedling about heft and P basses and whether Wankel driven heads are the way forward etc. We finally get a fresh set of ideas and you shoot it down? For the sake of perishing pfff man, this is exactly why we need fresh blood. Oh, and I was looking forward to using my pitchfork for the first time since I left home down on the farm anyway. Heeheehee
  22. Welcome Az. Exiting times ahead then...
  23. The man of many hats! Rock on. I'm glad that you aren't going with the latest 'phone camera fad. It's not going to last.
  24. How many hats do you own if it's not a rude question? Great photo once you get past the bokeh effect.
