It's his amp, and if he changes his mind about selling it then there's not a lot you can do surely. I had a similar thing happen to me. I advertised a bass on here, and didn't have a lot of interest, even though it was advertised for a good price. After a couple of weeks I advertised it on Ebay. A day before the Ebay listing was due to end I had someone from here contact me. He came around and bought the bass, but not until someone had placed a bid. It was within 12 hours of the listing ending, and I couldn't therefore end my listing. So it sold on here and Ebay ! I had to contact the winning bidder and explain.
The problem is that it's an auction, not a free ads sale. When you win it's an agreement between the seller and bidder, i assume a legally binding contract. In your case what you should have done is waited until the auction ended or pulled it before the buyer came round. Even though i prefer selling here rather than on eBay that would be the right thing to do. If there was a bid on the item at the time the guy contacted you it would have been better to let the auction run it's course It's really frustrating when sellers do this on eBay, it's happened to me a couple of times and one time cost me money as i had already bought accessories for the item upon winning. Each time the "seller" got negative feedback with the words "WARNING", "DISHONEST" and "AVIOD" in there To the OP, it's worth bearing in mind that the seller also has your contact details too as eBay pass them on when you requested his. Leave -ve feedback and each time he relists report the item to eBay and get it pulled. Post the item number on this thread and i'm sure a few BCers will report it too. I will!
 2. Personally alarm bells would start ringing when he said that the Gator case was worth £200
 3. Both of my Rockcases are really sturdy. Is yours the hardfoam one or a flightcase-style one?
 4. You are all kidding yourselves. Everybody deep down knows that only SVT foam will do. I have tried literally 2 other types and can safely say that SVT foam is the best on the market by far, all other products are inferior. I absolutely refuse to acknowledge anything else because i know i am automatically right
 5. I have a rule nowadays - I either make my own or buy obbm's
 6.
Promenade is a great store and the guys there are very helpful. If they it at the same price on the Promenade site then I'd buy direct.
+1 Very friendly staff who were extremely helpful, nice to speak to someone who knows their stuff rather than a salesperson!
 7. Could just make your own, if you have a access to colour inkjet printer it's really easy. A sheet of clear waterslide decal paper is about £3 and you can get about 10 or more decals on it I have a .pub or .jpg document with J, P and Tele Bass logos on if you fancy? I just googled the logos and saved the image, then cleaned it up in an image editing program Results are exactly the same as what you'd spend a tenner on from eBay
 8.
Here
Reminds me of this site: http://www.rude-world.co.uk/gallery.asp Beaverlick, Kentucky indeed!
 9. Very nice! I love the natural finish Bacchus basses Although your G string tuner seems to be looking at me....
 10.
I'm now being asked to consider adding some effects for songs like Foreigner's Don't stop believin', and to give more depth and variation between songs like Black Velvet and, say, Play that funky music.
Not really songs that require bass effects i don't think. Maybe they mean a slightly different sound? Black Velvet is played on a fretless IIRC so maybe adapt your technique to compensate a little, with practice it's possible to get a decent fretless impression on fretted. Other than that maybe an eq pedal to switch a different sound in at convenient moments? Boss and MXR do well built eq pedals. I use an MXR M80 for a bit of overdrive and a seperate 3 band switchable eq, the Aphex Xciter is also a handy pedal for tone shaping. Both of those have a DI out too btw
 11.
Exactly for the same (but in reverse) reason that Fender won't do a MIM Dave Gilmore strat.
Not true! I like Gilmore and i'm poor as sh1t!
 12.
+1 1/4" jack outputs (especially when I only pack the speakon cable).
+1 although i do like those speakons with th jack socket in the middle, handy if you forget your leads and have to borrow
 13. The "ON" switch on an Ashdown......
 14.
Are the wee clip on ones any good?? How do they work anyway?
Not really, they work off vibrations so you need good contact with the bass. Some headstocks suit them better than others, however a lot won't pick up a low E consistently which makes them less useful for bass players I have a little Seiko keyring tuner like this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SEIKO-CHROMATIC-ST01...0d46ea4feaa5b9e Surprisingly accurate and works off a little mic so will tune anything. Also really handy as it's a keyring!
 15.
A lot of the time, certainly since the late 70s, he's played John Birch & Jaydee SGs, not Gibsons.
I never knew that! There's also the old story of Joe Perry being presented with a choice of his signature models and not finding a single good one. Also Slash played a luthier-made "Gibson" for most of his career IIRC? Here's an interesting article that's been linked on here before: http://www.dinosaurrockguitar.com/new/node/240 I have a good mate who plays Gibsons purely based on the two guitarists mentioned above, even though he can't really afford to. I haven't the heart to link him to that article, let alone tell him that the guitar he owns (and paid a nice lump of money for) is an absolute dog!
 16. A bit OTT for me. Still, handy if you're in a Judas Priest tribute band.....
 17.
Once it stops being fun, move on.
Another +1 on this. Some of the best nights out i've had have been playing in a group where everyone gets on and has a laugh. I've been in bands before where there's arguments and egos, definitely not doing it again
 18. Cort Curbow? Very small composite body with quality electronics (Mighty Mite & Bartolini), £300 new or well under £200 used.
 19.
Cheap basses.... I love 'em too! Recently bought this for £20! 70's Kimbara (produced by Matsumoku). Lovely neck to play, good tone & suprisingly not plywood body - very happy with it.
That's gorgeous! Good score bud!
 20. Keep an eye out for a used Bacchus, they go for your budget. They're not much more than that used either and i've never heard a bad word about them. Very handsome basses Give funkydario a shout in the affiliates market, he might have something!
 21. I especially like the comment by a Geddy Lee fan: "Go on YouTube and pull up a live Rush video and try to compare anyone else to the best bass player Geddy Lee - he plays more notes in a song than half these people in a whole record." Apparently more notes = better music! Still at least Phil Lynott was ahead of Mark King, they at least got something right!
 22. All that list proves is that Dream Theater fans spend the most time taking part in internet polls. Besides, Carol Kaye should be top of the list, she invented bass playing.
 23.
beautiful jazz bass there maxrossell. all black - just the way a good jazz should be.
It's actually the Walnut Satin finish, albeit a very dark one, unless Max has done a refin. The pics make it look a bit darker than it actually is
 24. Whether it's ugly or not (it isn't') that was a bargain! If anyone can find a better made bass for that money i'd like to know!

25. If you do buy it can i have 1st dibs if you decide to move it on? I really wanted that bass! My idea of what a fretless J should look like
