1. Andyjr1515 would probably sort you out... @andyjr1515
2. I played one of these today. Theyre fantastic things. Im not one for more than 4 strings, fretless basses, etc. But this was really nice. I found that, due to physical frets being there the fretless side was much easier to gauge as to where the frets really would be on the fretless side, if that makes sense. Oh and a bit of chorus thrown in and it sounded phenomenal through the Laney combo they had. Fantastic bit of kit if its your jam.
3. Well its bound to be good methinks. Another one to the GAS list, a GAS list thats already 9 deep...
4. Pretty much anything by the Smiths. I really, really, don't see the fascination of Morrissey sounding asleep or p*ssed (or both at the same time) and murmuring utter nonsense into a microphone
5. Bought a Seymour Duncan P bass pickup from John, speedy and easy transaction, deal with confidence.
6.
Had the PB-50 for a few years now. Great bass ,ended up buying 2 of them One with TI's and one with Hot Wire tapes. There was a good thread by discreet last year on them. Pretty certain there's a soundcloud link to my pal Claudios' A/B between the stock Wilkinson and a Duncan in the post. Fighting weight on my two is about 8.5lb with luggage scales from the £1shop
Decent weight then, just furthering my GAS. Itd be interesting to hear that A/B if you have a link...
7. I for one love how active EQs can quickly alter the sound of the bass on the fly and offer versatility to the sound. That being said, I do a lot of my toneshaping on the amp or via pedals, and I dont like having to change batteries (not that its hard or takes long, but its just annoying when the batteries fade midway through a session)
8.
I got one delivered today. Just had a quick play & for the money sounds/plays pretty good out the box. The pickup is worth about £25 on its own & its comes with Daddario strings so it seems great value so far. I'll update this if I have anymore info but I found the online reviews pretty helpful.
The weight is the main thing putting me off, my HB Jazz was far too heavy, so just interested in weight...
9. Out of interest, has anyone tried a Harley Benton PB50? Tempted to pick one up and give this whole 50s P bass thing a go.
10. Its strange to see how different and pale it looks without the varnish. Cant wait to see it with the veneer on now though...
11. Interesting watch. Did nothing to curb my '50s P Bass GAS like, but good nonetheless.
12.
Oh I would. I had a HB Jazz - it was a great sounding bass and there weren't any real flaws with it, other than the fact it was pretty heavy.
I agree, HBs are very good VFM. Plus my bass vi gas is making me want to buy it even more...
13. bought a hiscox hard case from Rich, dropped straight to the door, quick and easy transaction, nice bloke. Would recommend
14. Hi all, looking to buy a decent quality pedalboard from somewhere that will fit half a dozen or so pedals. I already have a power supply so that isnt an issue. Looking to spend no more than £60 on a board that is well made with Velcro and decently sized that can be transported in a bag easily. Any recommendations? Been looking at a pedaltrain nano+ or sometging similar.
15. looks cool imo, want to get all of the basses I own in working order first though.
16.
Maybe you can put a little 'time capsule' inside one of the cavities?
I like that idea. Just what to put in...
17.
Looking good so far. Will the tuners be swooped for lightweight ones, as is often done?
Maybe. I do want black or golden ones in there so they will be swapped, but as for lightweight or not - depends on balance when its reassembled. If it would benefit from lightweight tuners then sure, but if it isnt too much of an issue, then simple ones will do the job.
18. I for one like the cream colouring. Looks even more retro, like its a spaceship from an old sci-fi film. Id love to see it and hear it when its done.
19. My old bass teacher from way back when had one. He was called Mark too. Could it be?
20. And that appears to be about the only one around 😑. May be another project in the works later down the line Andy.
21. Does such a thing exist? I ran a google search that came up indecisive, with most of them being Gibson made and in very limited quantities.
