1. Very nice! I gotta say I'm quite a sucker for red things. And block inlays. In the unlikely circumstance you come to sell it...
2. It's a very early (5 weeks) birthday present XD Yeah I've realised that a quick tighten to them should do the trick, just have to find the applicable tool
3. So after running that thread about cheap basses and me at the time not having a clue about bass guitars and what made a good one, I got clued up and saw that there was a lot of praise for the Marcus Miller stuff by Sire. I was going to get myself one... When I come in from work last night and find that family have already clubbed together and bought me an M3 in black and it was sitting on the living room floor. "Surprise" they said. But anyway, I'm really liking the bass and the neighbours are no doubt hating it. It came pretty well set up as is, with brand new shiny Daddarios and even in tune (albeit a little flat). The only issue I've had so far is a faint, but noticeable rattling sound coming from the headstock. I think it's from washers between the tuning pegs and headstock being loose on the E and A strings (I can move them and when I hold them down I can't hear the rattle). So need to find a way to fix it. Besides that I am a very happy, even more surprised lad. Been p!55ing off the road all morning
4. Hi, I'm Harry from Birmingham. I'm 18 years old and have just picked the bass back up a few months ago following a hiatus of about 2 years after I broke my arm and didn't bother coming back to it after not being able to play for what seemed like forever. But I've got the buzz for it again. The old EB-O (I know, terrible) needs replacing/cleaning and setting back up after its been sat in the corner of my room for a few years gathering dust and rust (although, it now looks like an antique). I'm on the lookout for any materials which can help me learn a few things and of course, on the lookout for a new bass now that I'm earning my own money and can quench GAS. I joined BC a week or two ago (cant remember). Back in the day, I didn't even know that communities like BassChat existed, but man does it feel good to know I'm not part of some endangered species that plays bass. So hello to all bass players on the interwebs
5. If this still hasn't gone by the end of the month when I get paid I'll be in touch.
6. Is it just me but there's not a bass guitar in the picture. http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/Camo-fretless-bass-Only-One-On-Ebay-/252212737345?nav=SEARCH Thank god it's the only one on eBay
7. Just stumbled upon a video of Sires other Marcus Miller offering - the M3. The MMs seem ridiculously good for the price point. This of course has not helped me be decisive as to what I order at all, but there you go.
8.
I have one of these on order http://www.thomann.de/gb/marcus_miller_v7_alder_4_awh.htm
The white one looks good. I really can't pick between black, white or sunburst, but I think it will be one of them come payday.
9. Good to know. Very very tempted by the Sire V7. Price is good, looks very good (can't even decide which colour I like best), and from what I hear, it plays pretty well too.
10. My "what cheap(-ish) bass?" Thread introduced me to these. I think it could be the one, just have the tough decision between colours - I like sunburst and I like the white one.
11. Does anyone have any experience of buying a bass from Thomann? Juat want to know what they're like for shipping and make sure they don't send a guitar that's bashed up from bad packing and postage.
12. Is this still up for sale? PMed too by the way.
13. I'm 18 and have been playing bass for nearly 5 years now I think (might be closer to 6, who knows?) and I have to say the people that inspired me to get into music and bass particularly, probably aren't too different to those older than me. Bruce Foxton from The Jam is the one person that made me decide bass over drums, keys or those new-spangled 6 string electric guitars (all of which I had dabbled in when I was a babby). Being the bass player of the band that my parents met because of (whole different story) and being the first -and still best- bass player I have ever seen in concert, I idolise that man, and The Jams music is what, 30-40 years old? (Pretty sure my mom and dad won't want to be reminded just how long it's been!!)
14. Of course he is yet to reply. I'm just asking how much extra he wants for shipping, as he's in Glasgow I believe. Considering I live in Birmingham and can't drive yet, anything more than 20 miles away might as well be China
15.
There is one in the classifieds here at the moment for £200.
Yeah I sent him a PM
16. Thanks for your suggestions guys. I do like the look of the Marcus Sire V7, but it would mean shipping it from Thomann and not playing it firsthand. Same problem with the HB idea as well.
17. If I'm driving by then I'll come along. May even drag a few pals along.
18. Ah so the thunderbird has gone from £190 up to £265. I didn't read the date on HUKD
19. Just seen this - http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/epiphone-ebtbvsbh1-thunderbird-iv-reverse-electric-bass-guitar-189-99-amazon-2356854 Ermmm. Really. Really. Tempted.
20. ive just got back into playing bass guitar (I say just, it's been about 3 months of spending 4+ straight hours a day). I'm still rocking the admittedly bad EB-O I had as my first bass. As a first bass it did the job a few years back but I'm looking for something a bit more fantastic. That being said, at the age of 18 and at college only earning £70 a week at my part time job, I haven't exactly got much in the way of funds. I've been looking at the Squier VMJ 70s and the Epi Thunderbird, as well as some of Thomanns Harley Bentons (with the idea of putting in new pickups and bridge and still having a fairly cheap and good looking bass). If anyone knows of any good value (sub £350) bass guitars, I'd like to hear their thoughts.
