  1. Basically speaking-The strength comes from the fact that being smaller/thinner bits of wood blues together if one of the pieces wants to warp Then there are ‘X’ other numbers keeping it in check, as well as carbon rods. 1 piece - if it wants to go, it goes and has little else to brace and stop it. There is of course 1 piece - 1 piece and 1 piece with a fingerboard which will behave slightly differently as well. Its the same as a 2 piece body being more stable than a single piece. Of course pairing woods of different properties, different batches helps
  2. I didn’t, but then again I am a bad man

It is a rather nicely popped together piece

  5. I would certainly use them as a first port of call - the neck as you know is a split coil housed in that housing and the bridge a Humbucker, of course if you can get the metal housing off, or get one the same size you could put whatever you want underneath it. Sandberg are pretty good at looking after you. If it’s a no go, a decent pick up person I am sure will be able to help, but I cannot see Sandberg not helping out
  6. It certainly is interesting, and it’s always good to have ‘spare’ on tap to use, but it is still approx £2-250 more than a stomp. Using the cost/value logic (which is often brought up) it needs to be approx 50-60% better to be of decent value-or of course it could just be your preferred format, and you absorb the cost because of it, which is fine. Using the same metrics the Fractal FM3 which has 48 blocks (still has 3 footswitches and about the same number of knobs and Just as many of not more cabs/sims etc) is equally as good value At about 50% more than the Boss. The power supply is a non issue as you can use an extension chord (which i am sure everyone has) and a True Tone One Spot Plug which does for 1700mA and costs £20 - so no need for an expensive power brick. Its noice to have choice
  7. As the gentleman says - Chris Squire, dUg Pinnick - it’s been going on for years. If you think laterally, initially bassists used guitar amps before we had dedicated amps, cabs etc. therefore the break up was always likely to be on the upper register more. Its not new and as someone said earlier - pedals have just come out making it ‘seem’ that way.
  8. Vocals and bass - hardest gig in town - you’ll relax into it - maybe tuning half a step down etc. So the same pattern can be played at home and in rehearsal but it’s easier to sing. Congrats on finding decent people-first step achieved
  9. Emperors new clothes - Patrick Hunter making all pedals sound exactly the same again. No doubt it will be decent enough, but pretty much as you say
  10. Not all Sig models (across different companies) are just production models with a name tagged on, they are different. Doug Wimbish Spector has its own neck profile, Sandberg models have subtly different pick up placements and bits compared to the ‘standard’ model it is based on. For me, I’ll assess something on its merits sig or not This bass looks cool - congrats to him
  11. Big winner when it’s all status-keep this one son
  12. Only that you need to choose the correct drill size definitely, use a pillar drill and not a hand drill. Use a masonry bit not a wood one, counter sink the hole so it doesn’t crack screwing. Measure many times, drill once. Dont be daunted tho, first ever neck I sized and drilled was graphite and it was fine!
  13. Status necks on any bass - winner
  14. There is no volume jump unless you dial it in and dime it, it just requires due diligence which is not that hard to achieve
  15. Lehle sonic spark is a decent bet as well
  16. I couldn’t put my finger on it, maybe me having more control was a bad thing and I dialled in a poo sound. I would have kept mine, but I had another unit that could do what it did Cracking bombproof piece of kit
  17. I have to say I preferred the bass attack 1 to the Bass attack 2, it’s just a bit more raw, with punch to it.
  18. Tech21 dUg Ultrabass
  19. Plenty nice that buddy - look forward to hearing it in action
  20. Dammit - missed it again - If the buyer wants to move it, get in touch!
  21. I make 11 pieces in total then - that’s a good extra large Pizza. Of there are no gigs you can simultaneously be in 3 pub teams at the same quiz and not lose!
  22. Or you are now in 2 3 pieces!
  23. Hahaha - mine was only meant as an addition to yours! I’ve left interior spray jobs I have done out in the sun to get it to mellow, it’s reet nice
