1. And how did that happen ? I had a look at your post by hitting the quote button, and saw the [ media ] [ /media ] tags, so i went back and edited my link with those media tags and it still didnt appear
2. That little pitch black is a great tuner ! I guess it looks clean Blue because it isn't overloaded. I only have what i need for the set we do. E. Filter for Stevie Wonder, Phaser for Thin Lizzy, Synth Bass for Joe Walsh, Chorus for The Cult. Thats it and the rest of the set is without pedals If the set changes ( and like most, we add songs and drop some ) and a pedal is no longer needed, it will be sacked from the pedal board.
3.
Thanks jassbass I will investigate Glow tech dots further.
Its Glowtec by the way, not Glow tech http://www.glowtec.co.uk/glow-in-the-dark-fret-markers.htm
4.
Max Bennett plays bass on 'Song for Sharon'.
Yup, aware of that, got the CD here, but was just pointing out the wonderful bass work, seeing as the whole album was going to be listened too. It just happened to be another fretless track
5. Yup, that chorused fretless on Song For Sharon just wafts over the mind like a meandering summer breeze in a velvet hat
6.
How is clarifying my point 'backpedaling'? I haven't gone back on a single thing I've said... And the same goes for me, plenty of people who agree. It works both ways. I'm not sure why you've gotten so uptight about the fact that I heard 'aimless noodling' in his music. That's my opinion and I have every right in the world to express that. And (as I've already reiterated) I asked for people to give me examples of his music that might change my mind!! What more do you want?! I'm openly admitting I want my mind to be changed!!! If you disagree with me then that's absolutely fine, that's actually what I wanted! It'd be boring if everyone agreed with this post, I wanted people to challenge what I said and to prove me wrong in the name of musical exploration! But show me why, give me examples like I asked for, don't just sit there repeating yourself over and over again calling me a troll for voicing my opinion. Check my other topics, I ask a lot of questions, I haven't set out to get anyone riled up. I had no idea that a simple post like this would cause such a 'crap'storm to be honest, it's quite baffling to me why you'd get so upset about a difference in musical opinion. But for the sake of being mature about this, I apologise if my honest current opinion of Jaco's music has upset you or hurt your feelings. As someone who is about 40 years my senior I hope you can do the same now and just respect my opinion. Thanks again to everyone who has debated/discussed this topic maturely and constructively! I have a lot of musical research to do this weekend
Your opinion is fine, no need to apologise. Some just need to get over themselves. For easier listening of JP, check out Joni Mitchell's ' HEJIRA ' album on yootoob. Its the only JP i like myself
7. Yup, same here fella. My cynicism with the world just gets more outrageous the longer i live. I've come to realise i have more empathy with dogs ( and an avid, if small, financial contributor to The Dogs Trust ) than i have with the human race
8. I should say they didnt misprint it, but i photoshopped it
9. Spare a thought for us. We're on our 6th voxist in 5 years, and he's always ill, despite being the youngest member by 10 years
10. Jeeeez, you had a GF in the early 90's ? You gotta be like a coiled spring these days
11. Dont call me surely No it wasn't a misprint
12.
I'm glad you made this point. I'm not sure that you had made your feelings sufficiently clear previously....
14. FatFinger ? Some have had results saying it eliminated a dead spot , others have said it moved the dead spot somewhere else, others said it makes no difference I had a Squier Modified J fretless that had a typical dead spot on the G string 7th fret - dont have the bass anymore, but of my current 4 basses, the Vintage MM clone has one in the same place, but its not my gigging bass, so no matter
15. No matter what i've tried, i've never managed to balance a P in the neck volume with a J in the bridge, even with adjustable poles I guess it depends on the pup builder
16. I cannot make the video appear, like others have managed ?.. so its just a link
17. Mitchell is about as close to a Godess as they get ( IMO ) Having had 4 of her albums for 30 years , in one format or another , Court & Spark, Hissing, Hejira, Miles Of Aisles, i thinks she's a one off, and out there. The track Rainy Night House on the live album is even better ( IMO ) than the studio track And those lyrics.. evocative and how they conjur up a story It was a rainy night We took a taxi to your mother's home She went to Florida and left you With your father's gun alone Upon her small white bed I fell into a dream You sat up all the night and watched me To see who in the world I might be
18. Yup, i guess that has to be a consideration. And UPS have told me here it will be here Friday. Woot Hope they sent a European one
19. I disagree . .I think he would be amongst friends here. Even those that don't get him admit he had talent far beyond most of us and that makes for fascination
20. If only your pics would show - i might just go for it, whatever it is
21. Thanks blue - sometimes publications come out the following month .... eg December issue comes out in January. Or vice versa
22. Nothing like another JP thread to get the playground rumble going He wasn't a god, but he was a damn good bass player. Yes sometimes he could seem to be aimlessly noodling - some folk need to get over that He doesnt float my canoe apart from the work on Hejira, which was stunning. Personal taste again, just like everything in life. The standout player of the fretless for me was Percy Jones, and he goes way back to Soft Machine And no, not everyone likes Jones either. But no need to regress and throw a rattle
