1. Looks like it was painted with a Homebase wallpaper brush - by a crew of Bonobos
2. Understatement Just had to post a close up or 2
3. Some may like it.. But check the close ups, seriously I've called the police http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Custom-5-String-Fretless-Dragon-Electric-Bass-Art-Guitar-w-Case-23247-/181933605429?hash=item2a5c168235:g:zowAAOSwEgVWSXpS&clk_rvr_id=987696951247&rmvSB=true

5. I bet now i've shown some interest in a PB-1 that i'll never find one
6. That sounds about right GB I'd pay that for a PB-1 I'm sure, in the past anyways, that HBP-1 pre's have been in the £7/800 area, which is there abouts, 5 times the price of the PB-1, so i wasnt far off
7. SM110/N https://www.beyma.com/products/lowmidfrequency/110SMN8
8. Dont forget Beymas They may not be NEOS but they're pretty awesome drivers. You can get them on special order from Blue Aran
9. Yeah thats it - i thought i'd seen one on here some moons ago. A non UK BC member was selling some J basses and he put video clips up of the sounds of these basses, and in the clip was using a demeter HPB-1. Hey, what a memory i got Mind you - i bet the Dem is about 5 times the price of the PB-1
10. Aha! They're out there - thanks GB. Didn't one of the Demeter pre's contain a Q sweep ?
11. What i'd like to see on the pre section of an amp, for a change, is instead of just the usual mid freq adjustments, actually add a Q sweep, like the filter on ACG bass pre's I dont remember seeing such an addition on amps, though there may well be some out there with this function
12.
30 odd years ago, a workmate lent me The Captain and Me, and Stampede, both of which I have loved and play regularly. I recently bought from Amazon, from a series entitled "Original Album Series" a box set (loads of choices, all 5 albums for around a tenner a set, worth checking out) containing the 2 albums I already had plus Tolouse Street, Vices/Habits, and Taking it to the streets. I'm loving them so much I'm hungry for more. Are there any more albums than the 5 I have? I love the country rock feel particularly of the Doobies, but can anyone recommend me someone else to check out. We all know and love the Eagles of course, but there may well be some lesser known gens that I can lose myself in. A little less keen on the later, Michael McDonald more soulful albums (sorry Mike!) Thanks in advance
You simply have to get The Captain & Me CD Its packed with great tunes and the usual fab Doobies vocals Ukiah Evil Woman http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gt0CexXknTk

14. This was mounted in a project bass, and did its job, but the project has moved on and parts are up for sale Entwistle JBXN bridge pup, hard nickel adjustable pole pieces, neodynum magnets, as opposed to the ceramic jobs in the JBX ( same size pups though ) There are signs of them being second hand, because thats what they are Be careful how you handle these brutes because the magnets are vicious. I will not be responsible for them leaping off and attaching themselves to your dog's collar, or your belt buckle, or your watch strap I'll post for free ! Enwistle dimensions in the link. 15. Not a big fan of photos of me, but i apparently i had to have one for our band ArseBook page
16. As the owner of both Warm Leatherette and Island Life, yup - i dig the nutter. But especially Sly and Robbie ..those 2 are just mustard But i'm in agreement with OMR above... the pretenders version of Private Life is just so much more emotional , for me anyways. Its Hynde's unusual voice, JHS beautiful guitar sound and that awesome but simple bass line
17. 11,500 Funny, cos when someone offers our band £50 for a gig, i cant hear a thing. We recently got a £350 gig for later in the year and i heard that fine
18.
I've just been poking around under one of my Westfield B1000 p bass's and this is what I've found:- volume B500K log' pot' tone A500k linear pot' .047uf tone cap'
That's odd.. I think B500's / B250's are linear and A500's / A250's are Audio ( Log ) , hence the A designation I could be wrong Ooops, just realised its a 3 year old thread
19.
Ah, I see. Peavey ones dead? Looks like a nice bass.
Not really dead Eric..just fancied a different sound. The preamp died many moons ago and so fitted a passive circuit, but didnt sound right so i thought a pickup change would help The bass is really well built with great woods
20.
A while back I did a refin of a Wishbass. I made a new nut and the strings virtually touched the FB at the top of the neck as they came out of the nut. You can get some low cost files off eBay that others have used for the job. I went about it with a bit more vigour, I used a dremmel disk like an angle grinder. Another way would be to replace the nut with a Warwick Just a Nut, so the height is adjustable.
Good point - i do have some mini files here, and i believe Thomann sell a much cheaper version of Warwicks Adjust a Nut
21. Thanks gran .. i'll have a search for the man
22. It was the pickups and the circuit of a ZZB that was going in to the bass above
23. Done the VVT and the bass sounds carp. Not the pickups, they sound fine, but its my fretless Peavey, and it just doesnt sound like a fretless. Then again, it was a fretted but then defretted, then had a tiger maple board fitted and i have the feeling defretted bases never match up to the sound of a fretless built from scratch for purpose An utter waste of time and effort ! I should just go buy a proper fretless i think... and hurl this thing at the binman
24. Thanks Eric, on the strength of your photos, i believe i had the same wiring, and still got silence Changed switch for new one, changed pots, even swapped switch wires over ( reversed ) and still zip I'm ditching the switch and going v v t. Its all i can do Cheers for hunting down your long lost ZZ
25. Thanks all - info & advice appreciated Going with 500k/500k/250k/ 0.047uF or 33
