1. Recently picked up this combo and was wondering , thats if Ampeg do not fit their own manufactured speaker units, what speaker would be used. Do they outsource from say, Eminence or others ? The bottom end on this is huge, when using the P neck pup, and almost undefeatable. I have a Jazz type axe thing but with a P in the neck. Both pickups are the the Entwhistle Neo's with their monster magnets and also have an East jazz drop in preamp. I'm thinking it could be the bass and/or preamp. Using the P neck pup, with all bass rolled off on the east preamp AND ampeg, the bottom end is still huge. Having said that, I love this combo
2. Vintage = Low-Fi Modern = Hi-Fi I'm partial to something inbetween. Mid-Fi
3. Rediculous price though Try this... http://www.ebay.co.u...=item338259ad30 Despite the Aus dollar price, the seller and item are located in London
4.
Why would you not want to stab the drummer?
Indeed, if you play on the drummer's right and play right handed, stab away. Unless you play on the drummer's left and are right handed ( me ), you can stab the gitwrist. Just as good a target, i reckon
5.
Bandstand by Family. Cracked it out last week for the first time in years, great groove rock & solid, tasteful bass throughout.
Oh sweet baby jeeeeezus .. Burlesque - top 5 bass lines of all time
6. Automatic Man's first album, featuring ex Santana tubbist Michael Shrieve ( no need for introductions ) and the under rated Pat Thrall on guitar, who has worked with the likes of Glenn Hughes, Pat Travers Band, Asia, Meat Loaf, Jack Bruce, Elton John, Tina Turner, Dave Stewart geni geni https://www.youtube....h?v=1_4TMii0tts
7. Must Bang Sally .. laughage nearly as bad as Kravitz's Are You Gonna Blow My Gay
8. I hope he takes note. Nature is trying to tell him something. Never liked his bass style or music, but i adore the man himself. A proper character, a scholar and gent and tells things how they are.
9. Quite right Strange, my local garage charges a huge amount compared to 20 years ago to fix my Vauxhall. So does the local electrician, and the plumber, when i need their relevant services They obviously havent heard the news
10. Who was actually on Mastermind ? I missed it Saw KC live ( Discipline era ) way back in time at Friars in Ayelsbury and was suitably blown away. Belew was a maniac
11. Just seen someone post my thoughts Basically, yes, you've set a precendent as a dep by playing so many freebs, that they now expect it. As a dep, you are not part of the band, so disregard you play more gigs than their regular bassist. Unless you put your foot down, ( ah 1 ah 2 ah 3 and a 4 ) it will go on as they've got it sweet. While you keep accepting freebie gigs, they'll keep on not paying you. They're not daft are they ? Slight off topic To me, and i know this is the same for all musos, i'm wondering why gig money hasn't gone up with inflation. Everything has increased, yet gig money is either worse, or at best the same as 25 years back or more I know in '91 our band was getting roughly £250 per gig for pub work, and clubs paid a bit more. I'm sure it was at that level before then, and its still that way now
12. Yeah i'm pretty sure non musos wouldnt even think about that line being hard work.
13. Someone mentioned JB's Sex Machine, and thats just timing, as the notes are easy enough in themselves . SM is a not track i have a problem with but HMWYRS took a fair while 16ths over an extended period while swapping frets & strings can be tricky to get it seamless. But in the end, its just practice. I find if i leave it for a few months, the seamlessness just disappears, so its a track you have to keep on top of, if you like it of course, or is one of your band's covers. Riverboat is one of our bands covers, and i love the bass line. Never had a problem with the repetitiveness
14. Maybe some gorgeous Icelandic women taught you about rhythm ?
15. The SM110/n's , as recommended by the one of the Muskies Yeah i know its in a 1x12 thread, but backing up ( as if they even needed it ) the Muskies recommendations on Beyma drive units, because they're damn good Back in early 2014, Blue Aran sent me 4 x SM110/n's free postage, £200. He makes very little profit on these and BA are great to deal with. If you fancy any Beymas, buy them from BA if you can Sorry about squishing the photo - The original on the Beyma site stretches right across my 24" Dell monitor. I had to do something !
16. No probs, as long as my dentist doesn't do those while doing my fillings
