2.
4.15am, you must sleep less than I do! I'm pleased it has worked out for you, it won't be long before I repeat your experience as I go to work on a 2x10 design, those Beymas still look like the best value for money available in the UK at the moment.
I dont sleep, period ! Yes they're doing well, have seen a few gigs, and as i'm still in the same band, they'll be seeing some more real soon. Thanks to you & the Muskies
 3. Aha. The thread in question http://basschat.co.u...0cab%20at%20all
Sorted ! At last The nitty gritty - these Beymas coupled with the cab mods made, care of the friendly gurus and big thanks to them, specially stevie who plotted the graphs - (cheers mate), has really tightened the sound up nicely. Same output volume as the higher wattage Eminence ( though we ignore those watts mostly, i think ) But the authority, the balance, ... is lovely. F'instance - with the umodded cab + Betas, if i were to say play 14th fret on the G, then immdediately play the 14th fret on D, there was this bloom and jump in volume - strange, as you might think this was more to do with the pickups or strings or both ( Nordstrand P/J SE set ) but i doubt its them. In fact it wasn't... Its happening in front of my ears right now, as i have one unmodded cab + beta , right next to the Beyma / modded. ( dual channel power amp ) The Beyma / Modded cab has controlled this, and anywhere else i got that scenario of bloom / vol jump. It wasnt horrendous, but anyone would notice it. The evenness across lows mids and highs has improved a lot, the tone is def. tighter, and for not much layout after factoring in sales of the Betas ( 2 have gone already ) it turned out a cheap upgrade We call that a result ! 2nd cab to do now, but since its going to be a carbon copy, no need to bore the audience with this one

 4.
The Beyma was much more even in sound across the strings and frets.
I'm pretty sure i said as much about my 2 x 2x10 Beyma SM10's a year or so back Having re-speakered ( and port altered ) my cabs with Beyma SM10's on your reccomendations ( or was it Stevie ? or Lawrence ? - i'll have to find the thread - it could have been all 3 of you ) i am still immensely happy with mine. Although not in lightweight cabs (2 x old Peavey TX210 boxes - heavy ) the sound is the business. With all the technical work done by you guys ( plotting, port addition and lengths etc ) i ended with some fabulous cabs. It'd be nice to find some 12mm top quality Birch in a skip so i could lighten these 2 cabs. I wonder what the chances are ? Oh yeah - you guys are the mutts danglies !
 5. I reckon that Tull bach ripoff bass line would sound the nuts on a big ole double bass

 11. Sounds like you are not going to be taking too much off the nut to be bothering using a sander, and besides, using an electric sander to shave such a small item ( remember you have to hold it as well ) is fraught with the danger of sanding it uneven. For such a quick small job, simply put the nut upside down in a vice. I'd use some wood each side of the nut so you dont mark or crush it too much in the metal jaws. Then use a fine grade flat file and make sure to keep the file square. You'll be much more accurate with a flat file because its slow and takes a very small amount off at a time, unlike a sander. Nuts are not generally permanently glued, unless a previous owner has done that. You could heat up the nut with a heat gun, but be careful on how close you get. You dont want to destroy it. If its a normal nut ( i.e. not been permanently glued ) it should come off ok. In fact many a nut i've removed has not even needed that. Just a gentle tap with a lightweight hammer, and i mean gentle
 12. Try the bass line to Kenny Loggins ' Footloose ' ( original Nathan East bass line ) Not flash, just tasty, but easy to finger (ooer matron ) The non chorus bits are by the by, its just the chorus that tap dances along nicely So the vid is some guy just covering the chorus. Not too keen on his tone, but thats just personal taste For those too hip or young to remember footloose, dont worry about it https://www.youtube....h?v=Au96KTuGRPo
 13. With the above feedback who would have thought ? But since this is a feedback thread, the good most go along with the bad message re. my sale: " hang on to it for a week and i'll take it off your hands " Thats sounds serious and pretty final. Would have to deter other potential buyers. And after a week .. "yeah dont need 'em now " Brilliant

 20. Brilliant Nice to see the most humblest musician on the planet get some air time I've read as many Jonesy interviews as i could over the years, because the bloke is just fascinating, as well as been totally unique. One could pick his playing out from a 50 man bass playing lineup. This guy should have been world / planet famous and rich while he was still with Soft Machine because his unique style a-la- Brand X didnt start with Collins, Goodsall et al. I smiled at the old interview of PJ in his early days of de-fretting a bass only under the G string, ( used i believe on the track Running On Three ) before getting his first fretless P bass with a paltry sum advanced for Brand X's first album. Goodsall apparently bought a fur coat with his paltry sum PJ also built his own ( we call them flangers today ) pedal ( i believe he actually is an electronix wiz ) but it was back in the days of yore, and he had to cool it down with a peltier system. The sound from this thing changed according to how hot it got. It can be heard on early Brand X If ever the word genius could be applied, i'd apply it to that man Have some..
