1. Pickups just being swapped for more pickups, and instead of 3 knobs on the front , there'll be 5. Its hardy changing the body that much
2. Thanks guys Cant sell the bass and use another body ...i'm rather attached to this one. Well, not all of it, obviously PS work would have to be out sourced, as i'm talentless in this area of bass mods. I was just wondering how a builder would have done it
3. Does anyone have any experience of filling in pickup routs ? I'm planning to modify my PJ / MM bass with other pickups. This means the old routs will need filling to a good finish, re-routed for new pickups ( soapbars , so different shape to old pups ) The same thing for the leccy control cavity. Its passive top mounted , like a jazz, but it will be filled and re-routed from the rear because its going to have an active 5 band pre fitted Eventually, the body will be sprayed painted again cheers
4. I've also bought a bass from CC or CG. Sorry cant remember which one. Like others have stated, it may as well have been wrapped in tissue paper when you see the amount of effort their packing dept put in to actually packing. When I say ' packing ' i'm actually doing stand up comedy
5. Warwick, you said he sent you a PP payment. You will have his address in full if PP was used to send the money I do hope you follow it up. I hate these type of scumbags, as we all do i guess. I want to see you get your money back by any means you deem fit
6. Also, when bidders win anything, their address comes throught the system too. What he did was fraud. If the police cant help, then you need to visit the bloke and have a word in his ear
7.
Can't do anything this weekend, stuff going on at home. But witneys doable. I'll pm you. John
Nay sweat john slap - shout when ready
8. Hi slap Witney , West Oxon ..about 64 miles accroding to RAC route planner I make good coffee
9.
In an attempt to diffuse this, I think you are talking at cross purposes here. To list anything you have to allow payment by PayPal. However, you can list the item as being for collection only, and for collection only you can insist on cash payments, not PayPal. So if you don't want to accept PayPal then you list the item as collection only and you insist on cash payments only - this does not infringe on any of eBay's Ts & Cs. If, however, you are going to send the item out by any delivery method, you have to accept PayPal.
Exactly what i posted Steve. And PP confirmed
10. What i said is fact. How do i know ? Because i phoned paypal and got it from the horses mouth When you start typing out your auction, you'll find that you HAVE to have paypal listed as a payment option. That bit you cannot get away with. But on collection items, you can state in the auction that you will only accept cash. Although you have PP listed in your auction, you simply DO NOT have to accept paypal on collection only items. Again, that is fact.
11.
Not to be rude, but if you've not used either service why offer an uninformed opinion? It's quite clearly set out here: http://pages.ebay.co...nts-policy.html "eBay requires all sellers listing on eBay.co.uk to offer payments through PayPal (with some limited exceptions). In most cases, other payment options may be offered as well."
Yes thats true, but paypal themselves have stated that its fine to also list that if collecting in person, only cash is accepted. That is in direct repsonse to scammers doing exactly what spyder posted. Its a well known scam and even PP recognised it. Your listings will have to include payment by paypal, but on collections only, you simply do not have to accept paypal Thats fact
12. I would only ever accept cash when collection in person is the choice. Not only can you not get scammed, as spyder pointed out, there's also no PP chargeback if they get home and change their minds. You also save PP fees too
13.
But then i've not had a courier damage anything yet, so i havent experienced what happens under those circumstances. This is the problem. When it goes ok its great, when it goes tits up s**t its the fan.
Yup, i hear it makes quite a mess
14. On a lighter note, i've just had a local guy message me to ask where abouts i was in the country and it looks like he's very interested
15. Funny old thing ..i've sold guitars on this basis before - buyer arranges courier - and never had a problem. They email me the courier labels which i print off, pack the guitars and wait for the driver to turn up. But then i've not had a courier damage anything yet, so i havent experienced what happens under those circumstances I have told the dealer who messaged me that i'm not going to arrange the courier, so now he knows. He wont be bidding because i've stopped that I guess its personal collection only then !
16. Packing isnt that hard either if you have the right stuff, which i do have. I keep proper guitar boxes ( both inner shaped one and the big fat outer and of course bubble wrap ) from when i've bought guitars myself. But as you guys say, its probably in my interests to only have collection and no postage.
17. So guitar gets dameged by his courier, and buyer gets refunded by PP...and then since he has all the courier info, which i dont have, he can claim back from them too, making a nice wad of cash on the deal ?? Maybe i shouldnt offer postage then, as Big Red stated
18.
Technically the buyer is responsible if they have arranged the courier. However if you you don't want the hassle of potential damage to the instrument by posting, then simply don't offer it as an option, or even mention it in your listing. State cash on collection only. If potential buyers can't accept this you don't have to sell it to them. If necessary remove any bids they have made and block them on eBay.
Yes, but then i wouldn't have the responsibility of potential damage if someone else booked the courier. Thats the whole point. If you're willing to pack & post, then you reach more buyers.
19.
Think you are right. If the buyer arranged the courier and it is damaged, the buyer has to sort out the problem as you are not responsible.
Those were my thoughts, sometimes you get doubts on the legalities, especially since this guy told me i was still responsible for the courier that HE books. I just couldn't see how i'd be able to deal with a courier that someone else booked, who'd damaged goods that i sent
20.
I have had a bass damaged by a courier despite it being very carefully packed (in case, in strong box, with plenty of bubble wrap. The courier's small print restricted payouts for damage to musical instruments to £100.00 despite me taking out extra insurance for it. These days I arrange to meet people half way between our homes, if that's not possible then I won't buy or sell.
Yeah seems like a good idea Dave, but then if the buyer arranges the courier, and if the courier does damage, its the buyer who has to deal with them and get their money back. Well thats how i see it, but then i had doubts, which is why i posted about it in case i was wrong
