2. yeah i looked at that guys price and thought ' ambitious ' Still - £53k - £70k ...thats some guitar he's got. I've even got the album my pal made with that Gib LP he used for the recording
3. Oh..'ang on WTF ?? arghhhhhhhhsssse !! https://reverb.com/uk/item/3462137-gibson-les-paul-standard-1957-goldtop?gclid=CPLiyIvG2dECFU48GwodYF0B6w&pla=1
4. On a side note, a pal of mine who no longer lives in this country ( he married his french wife here and then moved to france ) owns an original Les Paul Gold Top 1957 He had this when i first met him in 1980, so how long he owned it before then i have no idea ... and he still has it. Wonder what thats worth now ?
5.
He did so in the late 70's while remaining very much active in music, and later sold the estate to an environmental organisation, back in the 90's I believe.
15,000 acre Strathaird estate on Skye to the John Muir Trust Anderson didnt care about the cash ( 3/4 million ) so he could be fussy and the JM trust got it becuase it was going to be preserved for conservation "I didn't want to sell the estate to some hunting shooting, fishing type " unquote. Good for him Not connected to his Salmon farm in Inverness
6.
Yes, Jah Wobble uses the same..its that big neck pickup that does it.
Quite right The Magnum 3 i had also had a monster pickup
7. I might have to mention John McGeoch's fabulous guitar work
8. A Devoto devotee eh , Rhys ? More air time for Barry - his bass lines / tones are as weird as Howards voice. Lovely jubbly http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NvBeVR2jeks
9. I kind of agree with you on Devoto, but spookily, i also think that his strange vocal tone / phrasing seems to really suit the band Maybe i'm alone in that, though
10.
Massive fan of Sunbeams here. Worth a try if you are a nickel fan. Mine seems to last a long time. Even when the initial freshness has gone (ie zing reduced) they have a lovely tone. I would also say that if you generally find you are missing fatness, punch or growl - turn up the amp! Davo
Ditto - lovely strings, currenty some 40-100's on one of my basses IIRC, aren't the Nickel windings over round core instead of the usual hex core ?
11.
Does Alex James count?
My pal did some remedial work on James' axes
12. Any lovers of the talented Barry Adamson ? Fantastic twanging on the live ' Play ' album around 1980 Unusally he played an Ovation ( a Mk 1 or 2 maybe.... not a 3 or 4 cos i had one - different shape ) , not a prolific model of bass for players of the fat string Still... might as well give Adamson some air time. Give Me Everything from PLAY. What a riff ...
13.
3dB is double power. 6dB is double actual volume or SPL 10dB is double perceived volume.
Yup meant to say 10db volume Tim - thanks for correction
14. I dont imagine - i read what the experts say Twice the power isnt a 3db increase. I think its something like 10db Read the BF website. I'm sure its all in there
15. From what i can recall of scientific stuff posted by Mr Claber and BFM, you arent going to be unleashing anything much at all by buying 12 ohm to 4 ohm converter Going from 200 watts to 500 watts is not much at all in the great scheme of things. IIRC, to double the perceived volume, you'd need about 10 x the power, EG 2000 watts Someone might corect me if thats wrong
16.
Not so keen on the finger stick thing tho. I find it a bit messy. Dave
Shame.. his stick playing is exemplary. The man is too cool for skool http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PHedekI5w4w
17. One thing the Wychwood brewery did.... Every Christmas, they brought a shyte load of beer round to all those house owners who's back gardens overlooked the brewery ( about 8 or 9 of us ) When i say a load, it was brought round on a sack truck !! A little thank you because of the noise they made every morning throughout the year. I think some of my friend Chris's philosophies in life rubbed off on the bewery whizz kids
18.
Is that it? I'm owed a couple of hours at least, maybe ..if ..I ...type..this...very slowly...?
Come on Yorky, post some facetious rubbish !
19. Unless you're a Shark or a Princess, its quite doubtful you'll notice anything at all
20. How utterly brilliant That is one low maintenance hound dawg
21.
now I'm 62 I'd quite like that time back to write facetious messages on online forums...!
You just have. Job done
