2. Super compact is a 12 though, so cant really be gen 3 of the compact. So i guess there was only 2 gens of the 15 ? For some reason, there are no 15's currently listed on the BB website Anyone know the difference between the 2 gens of the compact 15
3. I checked the site but history seems to disappear , like many sites I remember the first compact 15 to hit here, but they were always beyond my price range, so as new cabs came and went, i missed the generations So how many different 15's came after the first compact, which is suppose is gen 1 ?
4. I used the New York version - i guess they're pretty similar, though the New York is 4 ohm. I ran it with 2 single New York 12's, daisy chained I decided i dont like 12's ... just not the sound for me. I ended up with the MB 604 x two. Big lows. and mids.
5. Email from Clive Button today At the time your combo was made Trace Elliot only produced combos in 150 watts, either 1 x 15 or 4 x 10 as you have so it is not possible to swap out your pre-amp/output amp section for one of higher power. The other option is to replace all speakers with 16 Ohms ones and wire them all in parallel to produce a 4 Ohm load. So sorry, generally not a lot of help to you. Maybe using a higher wattage external power amp run from one of the Line Out sockets on the front panel may be the answer as the 4 x 10 speakers could certainly handle more than 150 Watts. That kind of settles things

7. I would say then, that if 10 times the power for a 150 watt combo is 1500 watt to hear doubling of perceived volume, then a 300 watt head isnt going to achieve much. And since only another combo head would fit, a 300 watt head is about all i could fit. Of the classic combos by TE, i dont think they got any bigger than that So, i guess ithings are best left as they are
8. Thanks ! I'm only curious at this point, but it has crossed my mind. I'm not totally sure, but the combos heads didnt seem to get much bigger than 300 watts ? Probaly not worth effort in that case. And yes, if i could muscle a 500 or 600 watt head in, i have four 10" Beymas i could fit, but then i suppose i would need to think about cab volume for those, and no doubt the cab would need modifying to use the 4 200 watt Beymas Its already looking like trouble Probably just leave it alone
9. Bit of a coincedence that you came up with that guy, as i've just emailed Clive Button, the original designer
10. Is it possible to swap heads on TE combos for a bigger job ? EG, 150 watt head in my GP11 MK V 4x10, for the AH500 or something similar ? Would it have to be an amp taken from another combo or will the stand alone heads slot in ? Cheers
11. He paid, he arrived, he played, he survived. Just like a right slapper.......and a scholar and gentleman. Cheers john

17.
Many years ago I stripped the varnish off an old chair leg as I repaired it, then tinted it with a mix of brown and black shoe polish to bring it close to the original colour, and then I revarnished it with a clear varnish. Yes it works, providing the wood surface is not sealed, and provided that you seal it afterwards. David
How did you get varnish to stay on a waxy finish like boot polish ?
