1. Had one for a while..... sounded great in the shop. Got it home, used it through my rig, and it was very bland. Also they don't like certain leads, as mine wouldn't work with Planet Waves leads for some reason!!!
2. Might be the Hipshot D-tuner? Drops the E string down to a D or lower and return to pitch without retuning.
3.
http://mixonline.com/recording/interviews/audio_mars_volta/ So probably alder body, maple neck and rosewood board. Regarding the J pickup, no shouldn't have any effect when you solo the P rock fury.
So, maybe a Japanese 62 re-issue precision then?
4.
F**k you for wasting my time. Truckstop
Charming...................
5. Very nice, see what you mean about the bridge. The neck binding is sweet. If you see a lefty one around let me know!!
6. Gareth, check this cab out...... Not sure of the power handling, but the price is great!!! http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=104606

8. Nice.... what are the scale lengths on the lowB and high C?
9. How about a sheet of clear sticky back plastic? Kind of like the stuff you peel off scratchplates of brand new guitars?
10. That's a very pretty book shelf you're making....
11. Me neither... think they're rubbish
12. HappyJack, i remember reading the article in Bass Player about that very Hagstrom bass........... very cool indeed.
13.
So you think it wouldn't be a waste of time trying to make it better? Coz someone told me it would be pointless and a waste of money so I was a bit meh on it Plus do you think it would be worth changing the bridge?
The sound of a bass can easily be improved, ie new pickups, active electronics etc. But the playability, which you seem to be happy with, is always going to be problem to improve, and a perhaps a lot more costly than pickups. As for the bridge, if you can set the string height and set the intonation accurately with the one on the bass, i can't really see the point in a replacement. The Fender "bent bit of tin" bridge has been around nearly 60 years with little modification..... Nige
14. I wouldn't worry too much about the hardware. You can probably pick up some decent secondhand precision pickups from here, which would probably improve the sound. If you're happy with the playability of the bass, no point in changing the neck etc. Nige.
15.
pictures?!?
I'll speak to my mate, and see if he's got any knocking around as it was his guitar......
