  1. Swing low sweet chariot - The England Rugby 11 ( and lots of others before).
  2. I’d be interested to know the answer to this as well. Some day the supplied strings will need to be replaced, but I guess as they get older, they’ll be duller and more like a real DB.
  3. Monster mash - Bongo Dog Doo Dah Band
  4. And of course add Carol Kaye to the list given by meterman. The days of these excellent studio musicians are probably gone.
  5. I saw him at the Festival Hall, London when they toured the Blues Brothers band after the “2000” film came out. He was playing the Fender DDD signature bass with the duck on the pick guard. He and Steve Cropper we’re obviously having a ball being out on the road again and sounded phenomenal even without Dan Ackroyd on vocals. As a bonus they had Eddie ( knock on wood) Floyd with them,
  6. Can you post a photo? Your description makes it sound amazing!
  7. Gran Torino - Kyle Eastwood
  8. I can see clearly now - Johnny Nash
  9. That’s not much more than the price of the strings! Or maybe even less!!
  10. Call me - Blondie ( again)
  11. Hard days night - Macca & those other 3
  12. Like you I hankered for one of these. I found one at a reasonable price bought and played it for a couple of years but was disappointed with it. It got traded. I hope you enjoy it more than I did.
  13. New York, New York - old blue eyes
  14. Sorry to hear of your assault and injury. I can only suggest the Hofner Violin bass which was the lightest I’ve ever had. I can’t remember the exact weight, no doubt someone on here who still has one can tell us.
  15. Brown sugar - Stones
  16. Look for something 2nd hand for your first bass then if you don’t take to it you can sell it on without a huge loss. Given your list of styles think about one of Spector’s Korean models, great value, really versatile and reasonable.
  17. What do you want - Adam Faith
  18. Looks good with gold, but brown tort would be nice too.
  19. Who knows where the time goes - Sandy Denny
  20. I see these have a proper 4 pole pickup. When I had. A Fender one back in the 70’s it was fitted with a strat pickup, which I didn’t know back then.
  21. Just come off a cruise to Alaska where one of the bands was an all girl group from Argentina- the Shelleys. They played some good jazz and Latin style music. I tried to download my video but it’s too large a file.
  22. Is this the gig you want irrespective of your ability or the one you could play if the band let you?
  23. We’ve got to get out of this place - The Animals
  24. Say it isn’t so - from Blood Brothers
  25. Just go old school and plug straight into the amp.
