  1. Sorry to hear of your assault and injury. I can only suggest the Hofner Violin bass which was the lightest I’ve ever had. I can’t remember the exact weight, no doubt someone on here who still has one can tell us.
  2. Brown sugar - Stones
  3. Look for something 2nd hand for your first bass then if you don’t take to it you can sell it on without a huge loss. Given your list of styles think about one of Spector’s Korean models, great value, really versatile and reasonable.
  4. What do you want - Adam Faith
  5. Looks good with gold, but brown tort would be nice too.
  6. Who knows where the time goes - Sandy Denny
  7. I see these have a proper 4 pole pickup. When I had. A Fender one back in the 70’s it was fitted with a strat pickup, which I didn’t know back then.
  8. Just come off a cruise to Alaska where one of the bands was an all girl group from Argentina- the Shelleys. They played some good jazz and Latin style music. I tried to download my video but it’s too large a file.
  9. Is this the gig you want irrespective of your ability or the one you could play if the band let you?
  10. We’ve got to get out of this place - The Animals
  11. Say it isn’t so - from Blood Brothers
  12. Just go old school and plug straight into the amp.
  13. The pink panther theme - Henry Mancini
  14. I don’t know whether a headstock should rock, I like Fenders, got most things right, straight away, but it shouldn’t cause the neck to droop and be tasteful. I think this is pretty good.
  15. If I remember correctly, a Ric is a shorter scale than a long scale Fender. An odd 33” springs to mind, but no doubt Ricky fans here will correct me. But aren’t they generally a lot heavier than your average P?
  16. Bus stop - The Hollies
  17. Never liked Wals, couldn’t care if they take a century to make.
  18. I like the look of this, never thought the scratch plate on the Stingray 5 did anything for its looks. Like the majority (?) here I have generally abandoned hard cases, they don’t fit the front seat of my tiny car (DS3).
  19. I think you’re all brave! I would want to test run first.
  20. Willy and the hand jive - Jonny Otis
  21. Thanks for all your wisdom. To summarise- don’t do it!
  22. Golden golden - Silly Wizard
  23. I’m a man-na. - Muddy Waters
  24. I had a 35” scale 5 string Spector and to be honest it felt no different to ply than a 34” scale. It did have an excellent B, no flop at all.
